Overview

Bournemouth University is one of the highly-ranked universities in South West England's Dorset region. Established in 1992, it is affiliated with the Association of Commonwealth Universities and has a membership in the Florence Network. The university has two campuses - Poole and Bournemouth. The main campus is in Poole, which is often regarded as home to one of the most important university buildings. The campus includes a doctors' surgery facility, a Santander Bank branch, shops and the Students' Union building. The University's library, located on the campus, has a unique and age-old collection of reference books, research guides, journals, databases and ebooks, etc, open to all faculty members and students. 

While the other campus - Lansdowne - has several facilities like nightclubs, residence halls and six state-of-the-art buildings. These buildings house the administrative and academic facilities of different faculties. Recently, the university  has built  BU International College on the same campus for international students to help them gain subject-specific academic and English language skills. Bournemouth University's Lansdowne campus also has a 3G AstroTurf arena, gymnasium, and medical centre. The university provides confidential counselling, chaplaincy service and financial support to students. The university has eight faculties and one school which provides both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, research programmes in multiple disciplines like management, technology, media, health, social sciences, business, and science, to name a few.

Bournemouth University Scholarships

Its international scholarships are designed to reward excellence in all its forms, giving students additional support while studying. It offers a range of scholarship programmes to make the students stay smooth in the country.

Commonwealth Shared Scholarships

Masters scholarships for applicants from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries. Funded jointly with the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). It offers a full tuition fee plus bursary and travel allowance.

Academic Excellence Scholarship

For this scholarship, a student needs to have a minimum of an upper second-class Honours degree from a UK university, or equivalent. To avail the scholarship, students are not required to submit a separate application. The scholarship is valued at GBP 3,500 tuition fee reduction.

BU Music Scholarship

The scholarship is for talented musicians or vocalists that must have been involved in ensemble activity. Students can apply for the scholarship online by 31 August 2022 for September 2022 entry and 30 November 2022 for January 2023 entry. It's reward is worth GBP 600.

BU Sport Scholarship

BU Sports Scholarship is for high performing sportspeople with the desire to continue to develop. The reward for this scholarship ranges from GBP 500 to GBP 5,000. Interested students can apply online by 31 August 2022 for September 2022 entry and 30 November 2022 for January 2023 entry.

Bournemouth University Placement

Some of Bournemouth University's courses offer placements between two and six weeks, while for others the duration is 30 weeks. The university also comes up with a Career Fair every year backed by 70-80 employers who hire from the university graduates. BU has tie-ups with top multinational companies like IBM and Mercedes-Benz.

Bournemouth University also allocates a Placement Development Adviser who will usually visit the student while on placement and stay in regular contact with them and the employers.
