National Service Scheme (NSS)

When you give people a share of responsibility in sharpening their lives you increase their self-confidence, with out which they are nothing. When they have faith in themselves, they are prepared to take on even the most difficult problems and solve them. And in order to generate that faith we must first demonstrate that we have faith in the ability of the people to undertake nation-building activities. Faith begets faith and democracy can grow only when the people, particularly those who belong to the lowest itrata of society, accept in fully.

MOTTO OF NSS

The motto or watch wood of the National Service Scheme is ?NOT ME BUT YOU?. This expresses the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of another person's point of view and consideration for fellow human beings. It illustrates that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society as a whole.
