Students Activities & Clubs

Rotaract club

Rotaract club of BIT Mesra is the students’ chapter of ROTARY INTERNATIONAL. It is a socio-cultural club which aims at providing opportunities for young men and women to enhance the knowledge in skills that will assist them in personal development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities and to promote better relations between all people, in and outside college, through a framework of service and friendship. It has been inculcating leadership qualities in students of BIT Mesra by giving them opportunities to organize various cultural and social events.

 

Music club

Music is the very essence of our feelings. Whether we are happy, or sad, music acts as the medicine for our soul, by enriching the positive feelings and removing the negative ones. Music club, B.I.T Mesra, is a step towards promotion of music in B.I.T Mesra. It is a place where students display their talents in field of music and expand their knowledge and interest in this field. Throughout the year, Music club is associated with organizing and helping out with management of many exciting and musical events, with active participation in Bitotsav, Pantheon. There are various formal and informal events organized by music club, which include Talent Hunt, Live Jams, and Battle of Bands. Apart from organizing events, Music club also helps students to enrich their hobbies and improve their talents by providing workshops in various fields of music. Music club is a platform to explore yourself through music. It is a place where musical talents of B.I.T Mesra collide to create something beautiful.

Dance Club

Dance Club is a club which comprises of the best dancers and choreographers of BIT. It is famous for hosting the most exclusive and entertaining events of the year which sets standard and are indeed a representation for the class of talent in BIT. These incredibly fun and tiring events range from Themed Batch Fresher's Party, Street Dance Events, Salsa Workshops, Chance-Pe-Dance (Couple Dance), Footloose(Solo) and Group Dance Competition. Through these events, one is truly relaxed and looses on his stress, opens up mind, builds up confidence and most importantly remove stage fright and gives a chance of participation to everyone. Our panel of judges are meticulously talented and have worked in the Industry for many years. They analyze the participant’s performance and give their judgment along with their expert advice and views on areas of improvement. To be amongst us, one has to prove his talent by matching up to the standards the club stands on. Selection is based on level of Participation, Creativity, Energy and Innovation to organise an event.

Dramatics club

Dramatics club in BIT Mesra was established decades ago as a local chapter. Alumni’s from the batch of 1976 reminisce the glorious time they spent practising with their seniors for this society. Club currently has 70 members and each of them feel proud to be a part of this society.

Fine Arts Society

Fine Arts Society, BIT Mesra is the club in the institute which serves the institute with its creativity and design ideas. FAS plays a important role in shaping any students creative background which includes painting, crafts, sculptors and decorations.

 

News & Publication Society

The journalistic and creative publishing media body of BIT Mesra, the News And Publication Society (N.A.P.S) purveys information involving the events, issues and activities that eventuates inside the campus. It not only serves as an indispensable link between the administration and the students, but also identifies, incentivizes and acuminates the reporting, designing and editing skills by providing the students the platform to work with perspicacious people and interact with the who’s who of this institution. The newsletters, uniquely designed and meticulously phrased, are the flagships of the club’s programmes. Throughout the year, N.A.P.S designs and effectuates workshops and fun filled events such as Whatchamacallit, Disqus and Fanfare, to hone the reporting and media discussion skills of the students.

Photographic Society

The Photographic Society is one of the oldest society of Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi. In 1962 Roy studio a well known photo studio in Ranchi came to BIT Mesra with a proposal for a program for teaching photography to the students for some nominal fee. About 15 students enrolled in the program every sunday they used to go to Roy Studio in Ranchi & learn photography on a single mounted camera owned by the studio. These students formed a group called the Photography Club. In 1963 the club grew in numbers to more than 50 members, by the end of the year the members realized the need for an executive body thus the first president of Photography Club was elected whose name he could not recall. Since then the society is engaged in training of the students of the Institute who are interested in photography. The society covers most of the student activities and in addition the society also covers many Institutional activities as well.

 

UNESQUO

UNESQUO is a body which comprises of the elite-most orators, debaters and quizzers. It is critically acclaimed for hosting quality events which set examples and are indeed a class apart. These incredibly fun yet intellectual events range from debates, JAM sessions, Turn a Coat, Silence of the Champs, quizzes and much more. Through these challenging events, one is truly tested on his eloquence, presence of mind, confidence and most importantly intelligence. Our elite panel of judges meticulously analyzes the participant’s performance and deliberates their judgment along with their expert opinion and feedback on areas presenting scope of improvement.

Literary Society

The Literary Society is one of the most reputed clubs in the college and boasts of prolific writers, poets, speakers and enthusiastic readers.With a plethora of activities and events lined up in the academic year that attracts hundreds of students from different colleges in and around Ranchi, it aims to give you an overall enriching experience. The flagship event of the club is ROSTRA currently in its fourth year that involves events such as Youth Parliament, Panchayati Raj, Newsroom, Mythical Extempore, The Next Shakespeare, Spell Bee to name a few. The event is covered by leading national dailies including The Times of India, Hindustan Times,Dainik Jagran, and many more. The club also organises Literary Night, Symposium, Literary workshops and informal sessions that connects you with other people who are equally passionate about literature as you are.

Environmental Protection and Awareness Club (EPAC)

The Environmental Protection and Awareness Club (EPAC) at BIT, Mesra is working with a motivation to generate awareness on various environmental issues. In this regard, EPAC organized two important events in this financial year too. EPAC in association with Sports and Adventure Club organized two days Disaster Management Training workshop in September 2014. The event witnessed participation of nearly 100 students who participated in various events such as wall slides, rope walk and other evacuation methods. The second major event was organized in January 2015-Jharkhand Science and Environment Festival. JSEF is an annual event being organized since last three years. JSEF 2015 was organized for school going students and it witnessed participation of around 10 schools from Ranchi, Tata Nagar, Bokaro, Dhanbad, and Turamdih. Around 180 students participated in the events such as model making, debate, quiz competitions and Ad mad show. Apart from these two major events, EPAC started its mission of plastic eradication from the inner cooperative of BIT campus and in this regard distributed cotton bags to the shops. EPAC also organized events in BIOTSAV such as green walk, and Harry Potter.

ACM

ACM is an international scientific and educational organization dedicated to advancing the art, science, engineering, and application of information technology, serving both professional and public interests by fostering the open interchange of information and by prompting the highest professional and ethical standards. ACM BIT Mesra chapter is an extension of ACM and aims at enhancing the computing skills of students in the campus.

IET

The IET Students’ Chapter, BIT Mesra is actively involved in inculcating a passion for innovation and appreciation for scientific temperament in the minds of those who have the potential to change the future. It conducts seminars and workshops throughout the academic calendar striving to impart relevant skills to the students. IET plays an integral role in planning and organizing various events in the techno-cultural fests of the institute: Pantheon and Bitotsav. Apart from this, IET strives to invite eminent personalities to conduct lectures for the benefit of the club members also keeping the doors open for others interested. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that despite being a technical club, it gives one an opportunity to enhance his/her social as well as managerial skills. It aims to sharpen skills of all students irrespective of which course/branch they belong to.

Robolution

Robolution comprises of a group of 40 engineers from various branches dedicated to the education and encouragement of embedded systems and robotics. From conducting workshops like Embedded systems, Pneumatics and Digital image processing to holding compelling events in the annual technical fest, Robolution has guided many budding engineers into the field of robotics and firmly holds the ground on continuing its legacy into the future. The team ventured into an all new arena of ABU ROBOCON by the name of Pratyumnis and was successful in grabbing the ninth position at All India Level this year thus setting a new bar and raising the standard of robotics education in the college.

Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)

Society of Automotive Engineers is a club comprising of some of the college’s brightest minds and people who are passionate about automobiles. It is a group that promotes real life engineering experience and nurtures teamwork and competitive spirit among its members apart from the theoretical approach to academics generally associated with engineering colleges. The club body consists of two automotive teams, Team Srijan and Firebolt Racing which represent the college in national and international level events.
