The college has other necessary infrastructural set-up which contributes to the development of the institution. The administrative and academic offices and sections (Accounts, Establishment, Cash, Examination, Record and Despatch) are segregated from classrooms to avoid disturbance and minimise noise. Apart from extending computer facilities to the important sections, the college uses the Livesoft software at the administrative office, which also helps in the admission procedure. Biometry and Fax machines have also contributed to the development process.
The college has recently set up its ICT-enabled room, which has the entire wherewithal to cater to the interest of all irrespective of disciplines or subjects. There is a room at the top floor, called the museum, for being the repository of rare coins and pamphlets of heritage value, which also doubles as a room for the Certificate Course classes on Communicative English and Soft Skills. With a laptop, projector machine and screen, it is also home for ICT-related classes.
There is separate space for the Grievance Redressal Cell, the Career Counselling and Placement Cell and the NSS unit of the college just as there is the Computer Laboratory to host project interviews and classes linked to information technology.
Apart from this the college looks to engage some basic infrastructural amenities like power generator, water reservoirs, water coolers and fire extinguishers that provide necessary back-up to all other functions of the college. Their importance in the context of the evening schedule of the college cannot be gainsaid.
The college has an active NSS unit which works under the supervision of a teacher especially designated for marshalling the NSS –related activities of the college. The supervisor, who had been awarded the best supervisor in 2013, has been at the helm of responsibilities for the last three years or so. The NSS unit, working under the aegis of the University of Calcutta, organises its outreach programmes in two ways: at regular intervals and on an annual basis. While in the former case the students are made to involve in common activities like cleanliness drives, in the latter instance annual camps are arranged where students participate in humanitarian activities. The college responds to the marches on social causes and awareness drives organised by the university positively and on a regular basis. The college has won two awards in this section – the Best Unit award in 2012-13 and the Best Volunteer award in 2014-15.
In organising such programmes the college takes the help of Bengal Social Service League, an NGO, which hosts such philanthropic activities ensuring smooth participation by the students. The programmes consist in health camps, awareness programmes, survey and cultural activities in slum areas. Free medical help is rendered to the poor slum dwellers and student volunteers actively participate in such activities. While the health-related programmes are hosted by the NGO, the Awareness Programmes are held in the college premises. The NSS unit works as the fountainhead of outreach activities which immensely complement the academic activities of the institution.
