NIT Kurukshetra Campus

NIT Kurukshetra campus has hostels for the students, residential sector and instructional buildings for the staff. The instructional buildings are situated between the two residential sectors to reduce the walking distance. There is a full-fledged health centre at the NIT Kurukshetra campus which has qualified doctors, a Post Office and an SBI bank, which are all located at convenient points on the NIT Kurukshetra campus. The campus has a well-equipped health centre with an array of facilities to meet the students’ medical requirements. From lab tests, dental facility, OPD to pharmacy, the health centre has it all. There is a well-equipped casualty with 8 beds for emergency cases at NIT Kurukshetra campus. Treatment of diseases such as acute gastroenteritis, typhoid, acute colic, bronchial asthma and malaria is available. The health centre at NIT Kurukshetra has round the clock ambulance for transporting patients from the institute’s health centre to the local government. The ambulance services are free of cost for the students.

Various student activities are held at NIT Kurukshetra campus such as Techspardha, the annual techno-managerial festival, Confluence (the annual cultural festival which is a four-day long event held towards the end of February). In addition to these activities, NIT Kurukshetra campus also has many technical societies such as Robotics club, Microbus, Aeromodelling, EDC etc. There are many cultural clubs also such as PG Club, Students’ activity club, hiking and trekking club, music and dramatics, and photography etc.

NIT Kurukshetra campus is also known for the various indoor and outdoor games and there are tennis courts, badminton courts, hockey ground, and volleyball court. There is a gym at the institute and it has the latest state-of-the-art equipment for different exercises. The institute has a swimming pool as well. A spacious library with a good collection of reference books, CD-ROMs and a wide range of journals is available at the NIT Kurukshetra campus.

NIT Kurukshetra Hostel & Fees Structure

Hostels :

The Institute has nine boys Hostels and three girls hostels.

  • Girl's Hostel :

The Institute girls hostel namely Alaknanda Bhawan, Bhagirathi Bhawan and Cauvery Bhawan have the total capacity of 610 seats for B. Tech and Post graduate students. All the hostels are well maintained and equipped with the facilities.

Alaknanda Bhawa :

  Initially, in the year 1986, old block of Alaknanda Bhawan was established with total capacity of 30 seats having 10 rooms in all. New block was added to it in July 1990, having capacity of 90 seats, giving total capacity of Alaknanda Bhawan as 120 seats. The hostel accommodates girls students of B. Tech 1st year.

            There is one lady resident warden & one matron who are residing within the hostel premises. Mess facility is available which is being run on cooperative basis, looked after by one mess supervisor and other mess workers. There is Badminton court and I-net centre. The hostel has its own office room equipped with computer and printer.

            Immediate medical attention is given to the students falling sick. Students have the access to the hostel canteen and are provided with the facilities like water cooler, water purifier system, deep freezer, common room equipped with furniture and colour TV and other.

Cauvery Bhawan :

Cauvery Bhawan, the newly constructed girl hostel at present is having 292 rooms (single seated). Common room facilities include newspapers, magazines, indoor games and a color television set. Hostel is equipped with intercom and BSNL landline facility and phone, free of cost for incoming calls only. Hostel mess is run on co-operative basis with the assistance of the students in the form of a mess committee under the overall supervision of MMCA, clerks and wardens. Membership is compulsory for all students residing in the hostel. Students of the hostel are provided with the facilities of deep freezer, water coolers and LPG connection managed by staff of the hostel. All the rooms in the hostel have been provided with furniture, ceiling fan and WI-FI connection. Cauvery bhawan is having its own canteen providing day to day use commodities and snacks, accessible to all the girl students staying in the hostel.

Bhagirathi Bhawan :

Bhagirathi Bhawan, the second Girls Hostel in NIT, Kurukshetra, was established in the year 2006. The bhawan comprises of four wings having total of 198 rooms (single seated) and it accommodates the post graduate (M. Tech, MBA, MCA) students of NIT, Kurukshetra. It has big lawns covering the front and back portion of the hostel. In addition to that it has different wings with a beautiful garden that is well maintained by the gardeners. Furthermore bhawan has a well furnished COMPUTER ROOM (I-Net Centre) and T.V. ROOM within the premises. Moreover, the LAN connection has also been set up for the convenience of the girls. Apart form the above said facilities a CANTEEN is also there in the bhawan itself providing healthy hygienic food at reasonable rate. Lots of construction has been done to provide the best ventilation in the mess kitchen. A clean furnished dining space has been provided to the residents of the hostel.

  • Boy's Hostel :

NIT Kurukshetra has nine boys hostels. Three boys hostels are triple bedded and the rest are single bedded. All the rooms in Post-graduate hostel are single bedded. All the hostels are named alphabetically from A to I. all the names are having relevance to the characters of Mahabharta.Continuing this trend the new Mega boys Hostel(Hostel no.10 ) is also named alphabetically in the same series as 'Jagdishwar Bhawan' starting from 'J'.

Students Activities & Clubs

Entrepreneurship Club -

EDC is a non-profit organization of NIT Kurukshetra which aims at nurturing the entrepreneurship spirit of young graduates, faculty and other stakeholders. The mission of EDC is to encourage and refine the entrepreneurship skills like idea generation, opportunity evaluation, business modelling, cash flow, forecasting, negotiations & sales skills and so on by providing appropriate support, guidance, funding, resources and networking. Further EDC is committed towards incubating innovations by providing technical, managerial, legal and networking support to the entrepreneurs of the institute. EDC also aims at building aptitude and leadership skills among the students to enhance their entrepreneurial competencies. The cell has been functioning under the diligent guidance of Prof. Dinesh Khanduja, Mechanical Engineering Department.


Art & Craft Club -

Fine Arts & Modelling Club is a Student’s Club of National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra. It primarily focuses on the decoration of college during national level cultural fest CONFLUENCE and technical fest TECHSPARDHA. However, it also aims to provide a platform to the interested students who want to learn, develop and improve their Fine Arts skills under the guidance of senior club members.

The members of club comprises of students from all branches and all years inducted officially, by the secretary of club under the supervision of professor-in-charge of Fine Arts and Modeling club.

Backdrop, the centre of attraction of fest, hung on the stage of Confluence at Open Air Theatre (OAT) is made by members of the Fine Arts and Modeling club. Also the wall paintings done at various walls of the college are also piece of Art of club members. Also, Fine Arts & Modelling Club is involved heavily in
all the institute activities.

It also organizes various events related to Fine Arts as well as Modelling during cultural fests and competitions ( Confluence, Techspardha, Talent Show and Altius ). Thus, inviting the students to show their talents. It aims to provide sufficient opportunities to the students to show their talent of sketching,

painting and modeling and other genres of art.

This club came into existence in the late 90s along with the other official clubs of NIT Kurukshetra, is one of the official clubs in charge of handling and coordinating cultural activities at the Institution wherein the club is responsible for organising all the English Literary and debating activities, as the name suggests, and also all the quizzing activities. The Club works with a mission to mould the students into well-rounded, well-informed individuals with sharp personalities and good communication skills. It accomplishes this objective by organising a variety of workshops and activities round the year, including communication skills workshops, and events during the Talent Show for first year and Confluence, the annual Cultural Festival. During Confluence, the Club organises around 12-13 events which range from literary and debating events, to quizzing events and other small fun but informative events like Just A Minute and Dumb C.

The English Literary and Debating Club has a total of around 35 members across all 4 years. The members are abundantly skilled and competently equipped in the domains the Club operates, and go through a long and rigorous process of evaluation and scrutiny before becoming official members of the club, and are thus known to harbour a tremendous work ethic coupled with a devotion to their work and an absolute sense of belonging to the Club and its activites.
