Infrastructure

Punjabi University was established on April 30, 1962. Originally conceived and started as a unitary multi-faculty teaching and research university and primarily meant for the development and enrichment of Punjabi language and culture, but alive to the social and educational requirements of the state, it grew into an affiliating one in 1969. It has since developed in significant dimensions and acquired a distinctive character among the centres of education and research in the country. The university campus is situated on the Patiala Chandigarh road, at a distance of 7 km from the main city. Sprawling across 316 acres, the campus is away from the din and noise of the city markets and roads. It presents a splendid sight of the complex of beautiful buildings which include:

Students Activities & Clubs

Women's Club

Women's club, Punjabi University, Patiala is an integral part of Punjabi University, structure. It has been actively functioning for more than 2 decades. It is a common forum for all women teachers of the University. This club is steered by Dr Jagjit Kaur. Under her able guidance, and patronage of eminent sikh scholar and Academician Dr Jaspal Singh, the club has been given a new direction. Of on one hand, University has touched new heights, Women's club on the other, has also acquired a new identity. All the members of the club meet regularly, at least, once in a month, despite their busy schedules. These meetings provide an occasion for sharing of views, celebrating the achievements, interaction, entertainment and also sharing the moments of joy and happiness. The club functions according to it's annual calendar. Special lectures are organised to address the different problems of individual's and families of the members. During last four years, numerous specialist like- child specialist, skin specialist, yoga & aerobic experts have shared their views with members, on the Pedestal provided by Women's Club. Special expert from National Stock Exchange, Delhi, had interacted with members on financial decision making, with a special focus on investment in Gold schemes.
