Ashok & Rita institute of Physiotherapy, a constituent institute of Charotar University of Science & Technology (CHARUSAT) has started its academic session for the year 2009-10. It offers the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (B.P.T.) programme,Master of Physiotherapy (M.P.T.) programme in 6 specialties and Doctorate (Ph.D.) programme. This institute is the first step in health care project of CHARUSAT on the Education Campus, Changa and it will be focusing on other departments like B.D.S., M.B.B.S courses with multispecialty hospitals in the forth coming years. The vision of the institute is to become a leading institute in providing evidence based physiotherapy education, research and patient care. It offers 75 seats for its four-and-a-half year Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) course comprising of 8 semesters and 6 months of compulsory rotatory internship, Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) comprising of 4 semesters and Doctorate (PhD) programme. The evaluation system is based on Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) system and total credits to earn a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree will be 240 credits and Master of Physiotherapy degree will be 100 credits. The Bachelor of Physiotherapy programme contains the basic courses, clinical courses, skill development courses and research oriented courses to produce world class physiotherapists. The Master of Physiotherapy programme contains Research oriented courses, Skill development and Advanced Physiotherapeutic courses. The institute runs a full-fledged Outpatient Department (OPD) with highly modern sophisticated and state of the art equipments. It also has a highly modern gym with professional care.

CHARUSAT has an independent Training & Placement Cell which organizes campus interviews for placements of the students in reputed organizations. An exposure to a good work culture in the beginning of the students’ professional life guarantees success in all their endeavors. We at Training and Placement cell, provide our students with the best avenues to utilize their skills by helping them find gainful employment with the best firms. The university has provided complete infrastructure for effective functioning of the cell. Training activities are organized throughout the year in an effort towards preparing the prospective students for the campus selection programmes. The cell keeps on inviting various industries and reputed firms for campus recruitment. The cell is sensitized to function all through the year towards generating placement and training opportunities for the students. The Cell is headed by a Training & Placement Officer in charge and assisted by Student Placement Coordinators who lead a team of placement representatives from various courses of study. The Training & Placement Cell ensures and takes care to provide the best arrangements and hospitality for the visiting company professionals.
The Knowledge Resource center (KRC), which is a Central Library – a proud partner in the institute’s march towards its vision, plays a vital role in acquisition, organization and dissemination of knowledge. It has put in place policies and procedure systems and services and the ambience that facilitate creation of new knowledge. It has an excellent collection of both print and electronic books, journals, technical reports, back volumes and other reading material. It has adequate infrastructure to meet its requirements, has computerized all its operation using software developed in-house, and provide access to the collection through Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC).
