With over half a century of experience in providing a world-class education to talented young minds from all around the globe, Keele is a public research university located in the Staffordshire country of the UK. It was founded in 1949 as the University College of North Staffordshire. The university has been ranked as one of the best in the UK for student satisfaction in multiple surveys and is one of the Global Top 20 in terms of campus sustainability as ranked by the UI Green Metric.It has also been gold-rated in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) and is named among the top 25 universities in the world for campus sustainability.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The 600-acre campus is located between Birmingham and Manchester and is one of the largest campuses in the UK. Having charming Victorian-style buildings interspersed with dense greenery, the university is also known for having one of the most beautiful campuses in the UK. Plus, major investments have been made to ensure that the campus infrastructure is up to date and to make the best facilities available to the students. The university offers a wide range of programmes at the undergraduate, postgraduate as well as doctoral levels. Many of its courses are acclaimed to be some of the best in the UK. These include Medicine, Politics, Philosophy, Chemistry, Physics and Astrophysics, Nursing and Midwifery, Pharmacy and Pharmacology etc.

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

Close to 10,000 students are enrolled at the university and many students choose to take the comfy accommodation options available on campus. Life on campus is focused on a small community of shopkeepers and restaurant owners who help take care of the students requirements while also promoting a culture of personal interaction. Covid-19 Response

The safety and wellbeing of the staff, students, and visitors at Keele University is the highest priority. In order to keep the community safe, the university has facilitated social distancing, asked everyone to wear face-covering and provide clear guidance on Covid-19 testing. Here are the latest updates related to Keeles Covid-19 response and the implementation of the academic session from September 2021:

  • The on-campus classes shall commence from September 2021 after the UK government has granted permission. There shall be no prevailing physical restrictions that are being otherwise followed till date to deliver academic courses.

  • The on-campus research activities shall continue.

  • Keele University will return to full normal accommodation levels from September and all other services shall also operate normally.

  • No prevailing hybrid working plans shall be followed from September 2021.

  • Students coming to Keele from othercountries that require travellers will have to follow specific travel and entry rules before visiting the university.
  • There is no impact on applications to Keele University due to the Covid-19 pandemic for the 2021-22 academic year. In fact, the university is quiteflexible with international students whose exams have been cancelled/ postponed in view of the pandemic.In order to support international students, Keeleuniversity has a package in place worth 2,000.

The Keele International Excellence Scholarship (UG)

Offered as tuition fee discounts to eligible international students admitted to undergraduate programmes (except in the field of medicine). All international applicants who have been made an offer for admission to full-time undergraduate programmes are automatically considered for these scholarships.

Value: £2,500 (per year)
Eligibility:

The eligibility criteria for International Excellence Scholarship are as follows:

  • Candidates must exceed the entry requirements published in the yearly prospectus.

  • International Year One programme students progressing to an undergraduate course are eligible.

  • Foundation Year and Degree Programme students progressing to an undergraduate course are eligible.

Keele International Excellence Scholarship (PGT)

International students who have been accepted into a full-time master’s degree programme (except in the field of Medicine and Physiotherapy) are automatically considered for these scholarships. The scholarships are disbursed as tuition fee discounts each year.

Value: Up to £5,000 per year
Eligibility: The eligibility criteria are given below:

  • Candidates must be self-funding and confirmed as an overseas student.

  • Candidates must be accepted into a master’s degree programme.

  • Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP) candidates progressing to a master’s degree programme are eligible.

  • Candidates enrolled in the PGCE or MA in Social Work programme are not eligible.

The Developing Countries Scholarship (UG and PG)

International students coming from developing countries (Indian applicants are eligible) who have been accepted into a full-time programme are automatically considered for this scholarship. The scholarship is offered as a tuition fee discount for self-funded students.

Value: £1,000 (per year)
Eligibility: Candidates must:

  • Be a self-funded student.

  • Be accepted into a full-time programme.

  • Be a national of one of the countries mentioned on the list of least developed, low-income countries (compiled by the university annually)

  • Students enrolled in the PGCE and the MA in Social Work courses are not eligible.

International Support Package (UG and PGT)

Aimed at assisting international students during these unprecedented times (Covid-19 pandemic), the international support packed has been introduced to cover flight fare up to £500; transport from a UK airport to the campus; a catering package for the first 14 days; a bedding pack, plug adaptor, basic kitchen equipment, and thermometer; an electronic device to keep in contact with family and friends, a £1000 discount off tuition fees and additional quarantine support. 

Value: Over £2,000 and free accommodation for 14 days if you are required to quarantine.
Eligibility: Candidates must: 

  • Have an overseas fee status and should be enrolling in a full-time on-campus undergraduate or postgraduate taught programme starting in September 2020 or January 2021.

  • PGT applicants must be attending a taught postgraduate course that leads to a minimum of a full-time study at postgraduate level for one year and is of a minimum of 180 credits.

  • Study Abroad/Exchange students from a partner institution can apply only if they are paying full international fees to Keele University.

Apart from these, Indian applicants can also look for some other external scholarships such as the Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship or the Chevening Scholarship.
