The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) was founded in 1962 to help the state of former Punjab, and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the Prime Minister of India, inaugurated it on July 8, 1963. It is a public university that has been approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Punjab Agricultural University courses are offered in more than 83 unique programmes in a variety of subjects. Located in Ludhiana, Punjab, the campus is spread over 494 hectares of land, along with an off-campus of 1,793 hectares. PAU Ludhiana was named the Best Agricultural University in India in 1995 for its enormous contributions to increasing food production, livestock and poultry output in the state, and ushering in an era of Green Revolution in India.

For UG and PG Punjab Agricultural University course admissions, passing the 10+2 with at least a 50% marks and graduation degree with around a 60% marks, is required (respectively). Both candidates' previous academic merit and entrance exam scores will be considered during final admissions.
