Eligibility

A candidate shall:

(a) (i) hold an AQF Level 5 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent, approved by the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA); and (ii) have completed early childhood workplace experience comprising one year full-time (or equivalent) room leader experience after satisfying the above requirements or two years full-time (or equivalent) experience as a family day care accredited provider or an early childhood teacher assistant/aide or an accredited before and after school carer after satisfying the above requirements; and

(iii) meet the standard minimum English Language requirement as set out in the University's English Language for Admission Rule; or

(b) hold a three-year AQF Level 7 Bachelor degree in Early Childhood recognised by the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), and

(i) provide evidence eg. Professional Experience Reports, that the Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood included at least 10 days Professional Experience with the Birth-2 age group; or

(ii) provide evidence (employer's letter on company letterhead) of at least 10 days experience with the Birth-2 age group acquired after the award of the Bachelor Degree.

Students not meeting criteria (i) and (ii) may be admitted but must complete the unit PREX310 Professional Experience Birth to 2 Years (10 days) in addition to the normal Program of Study.

B.B.A. (Bachelor of Business Administration) (3 Years)

(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in a non-relevant discipline and at least two years of management experience in the area of human resource management, business and/or management approved by the course coordinator; or

(b) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in a relevant discipline* and have at least two years of work experience; or

(c) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification and have at least 5 years relevant work experience including three in management; or

(d) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate in Management from this University or its equivalent plus at least five years of work experience including three in management**.

Applicants must submit a personal statement (approximately 500 words) outlining:

(i) their most significant experiences or professional achievements to date;

(ii) their long-term objectives and their expectations of this degree in fulfilling those objectives; and

(iii) where they see themselves in five years from now.

(d) hold the AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate in Education Studies of the University of New England; or

(e) hold an AQF Level 7 non-initial teacher education Bachelor degree and an AQF Level 8 degree of Bachelor with Honours or Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of a University in a non-relevant discipline**; or

(f) hold a minimum AQF Level 7 Bachelor degree or overseas equivalent as assessed by AEI-NOOSR, and satisfy the School by the provision of evidence (employer's letters on company letterhead documenting a minimum two years' full time equivalent relevant teaching experience) of adequate preparation for candidature**; and

(g) comply with the University's English language requirements.

*Candidates admitted under Rule (c) shall specialise in the same area as their Graduate Certificate or not specialise.

**Candidates admitted without a pre-service teaching qualification shall not be permitted to undertake the following specialisations: Indigenous Australian Education; Literature and New Literacies; Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
