AMA School of Medicine (AMASOM) is the medical school/ institute of the AMA Education System (AMAES). It was founded in 2008 and is a well-known medical college in the Philippines. The MD degree offered by AMASOM is recognised by the MCI (Medical Council of India), and the degree is equivalent to the MBBS degree offered in India, Australia, and other Commonwealth nations. The affiliate training hospital of AMASOM is the Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC). AMA School of Medicine is listed in the World Health Organisation (WHO) as well as approved and recognised by the NMC.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

AMASOM is located in the financial and business capital of the Philippines, i.e., Makati. AMASOM campus is equipped with all the latest facilities and amenities, which are necessary for the enhancement of students clinical and practical skills. AMASOM has laboratories for Histology, Pathology, Parasitology, Microbiology and Gross Anatomy. The classrooms and laboratories of AMASOM are located on the 7th floor of the AMA One Building. AMASOM curriculum of medical courses prepares students for professional practice. AMASOM has faculty from diverse academic backgrounds and fields of specializations. The faculty members are always there to support the students until they complete their studies from college. The university offers five years BS+ MD course which is equivalent to an MBBS degree programme. Indian students with Class 12 qualification must first complete the pre-medical course (BS) of one year offered by AMASOM to get enrolled in the four years MD programme.

The four-year MD curriculum of AMASOM equips students with various skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving and clinical reasoning. The fourth year of the course is specifically devoted to the application of the basic and clinical concepts in actual community and clinical settings. The medical school has time and again produced a number of notable alumni who have served the world of medicine across the globe. After completing the MD programme from AMASOM students are qualified to apply for a medical licence where the degree is recognised. Also, many students go for higher studies to get a specialised degree.

AMA School of Medicine has an exclusive programme for international students who seek admission to the combined Bachelors and Medicine degree courses. The majority of international students pursuing medical courses in AMASOM are from India, Nepal, Pakistan, etc. However, these students must clear a screening test conducted by MCI. Indian students who complete an MD degree from AMASOM can apply for a license to practice in India. However, these students must clear a screening test conducted by MCI known as Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).

AMA School of Medicine, Philippines Scholarship

Scholarship for Indian Students

AMA School of Medicine offers three merit-based scholarships to Indian students for students who are enrolled in MD degree programs after the successful completion of one year BS degree programme. The scholarship covers a partial tuition fee based on the students performance in the first years BS degree programme. 

 Value: The scholarship covers 50%, 20% and 20% of the tuition fee depending on the students performance in the BS degree programme in the first year of (BS+ MD) course.

Eligibility Criteria for Scholarship

The general eligibility criteria to receive the scholarship is as follow:

  • The candidate must have scored at least 80% throughout their academics.

  • The candidate must qualify NMAT exam.

  • Must be among the top three students in the class. 

How to Apply for Scholarship?

Students must apply for the scholarship by filling the USN Form available on the official website of the college. Once the admission process is complete and Visa is received, the student can fill in the scholarship form. 

Students can claim for scholarship only when they are enrolled in the MD degree programme after clearing the NMAT examination conducted after the first years BS programme.
