Opened as an opportunity school providing Alternative Education to people from all walks of life, the Metropolitan State University of Denver was founded in 1965. Previously known as Metropolitan State College & Metropolitan State College of Denver, The Metropolitan State University of Denver is located in the heart of the central business district. Accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and being a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Metropolitan State University of Denver is also accredited by more than 14 other accreditation bodies. The University is placed #87-#113 in Regional Universities West, #5 in Most Innovative Schools (tie), #91 in Top Performers on Social Mobility (tie) & #428 in Business Programs (tie) by US News Rankings 2020. The University is ranked No. 638 overall and No. 108 in the West in Forbes’ 2014 Top Colleges list.

With an undergraduate enrollment of 19,437, Metropolitan State University of Denver has a vast campus size of 127 acres. The University has registered clubs and organisations such as: Musical theater, Concert band, Television and Radio station, Opera, Jazz band, Drama/theater, Dance, Radio station, Student newspaper, Model UN, Student film society and International student organizations to name a few. The most popular majors include: Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services; Health Professions and Related Programs; Psychology; Multi/Interdisciplinary Studies; and Biological and Biomedical Sciences.

It is also proud to strengthen the state economy with 95,000+ graduates, with alumni choosing to stay in the Colorado region given the vast pool of opportunities available.
