Overview

Exeter University is a public research university that was established in 1838 as St Lukes College. It was founded in 1955 when it received a royal charter. The university is based in the cathedral city of Exeter, South West England, UK and is a member of the Russell Group combining excellent student satisfaction with world-class research output. To recognise the University of Exeters high-quality teaching, the TEF (Teaching Excellence Framework) has awarded Gold to the university. In the Complete University Guide 2021, the university has been placed at the 12th position.The university has three campuses with the largest being the Streatham campus, which contains theexecutive buildings.The university's Penryn campus is regarded as one of the most stunning campuses in the country.

Exeter Universityis organised into six academic colleges including theCollege of Life and Environmental Sciences; College of Medicine and Health; College of Social Sciences and International Studies; College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences; The Business School and College of Humanities. It has over 23,500 students, out of which around 4,555 are international students from 140 different countries.It further boasts more than 200 student societies within the campus. These include the Socialist Students, the Conservative Future Society, and the Creative Writing Club. The university's athletic union has more than 50 sports clubs and is responsible for organising and managing the activities that are carried out within the university.

Exeter University Admission Process

Exeter University applications for the postgraduate study programme opens in September. Before the application period begins, all applicants are encouraged to start preparing their documents in order to complete their application in a timely manner. The application process for all the programmes at Exeter University is online and quite easy to complete. 

  • Choose a Course: Candidates are required to browse through the Exeter University website and shortlist the list of programmes they wish to apply for. 

  • Check Requirements: After shortlisting the courses, check your entry requirements and ensure you meet all of them. 

  • Register: After gathering all the information and documents required for your application, register with the applicable portal  and provide all the necessary details.  

  • Pay Application Fee: After completely filling the application, pay the application fee and wait for your admission response from the university.

Exeter University Scholarships

The University of Exeter  offer various kinds of scholarships for international students. Most funding schemes have strict guidelines and competition can be fierce. It is important to follow all of the instructions and make sure that you apply before the deadline.

If you are applying for financial assistance, make sure that you first contact your country’s Ministry of Education. The British Council in your country can also tell you about any scholarship opportunities that are available in Britain. The University of Exeter - Green Futures Scholarships

As part of Exeter University's commitment to a Green Future, they are offering up to 9 Green Futures Taught Scholarships for postgraduate study in 2022. The scholarships are designed to support individuals from low and middle income countries who are passionate about sustainable development and academic excellence.

Chevening Scholarships

The Chevening Programme was established in 1983. It is a project funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office. Over 50,000 Chevening Scholars are from various countries and territories around the world. They are acknowledged as an influential global network. The Chevening Program provides an opportunity for influential individuals from various countries to develop their professional and academic skills while gaining extensive exposure in the UK.

Commonwealth Shared Scholarships Scheme

The Commonwealth Shared Scholarships scheme aims to support Commonwealth students from developing countries who would otherwise not be able to study in the UK. The University of Exeter is pleased to support the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships. Applications for the 2023/24 academic year closed on December 20, 2022.

Commonwealth Scholarships for Masters and PhD study

Students from certain Commonwealth countries can receive scholarship funds to study at top academic levels. To apply, you must be a Commonwealth student and reside in a country that has your permanent residence.

Applications for the 2022/23 academic year closed on November 1, 2021. Details about the awards are available on the scholarship commission's website. Applications are now open for PhD scholarships that support low and middle-income students to study full-time at a UK university starting in September 2022.

Exeter University is proud to be a part of the GREAT Britain Campaign and the British Council's postgraduate scholarship programme. Exeter University understands that studying in a new country or city can be a challenging experience, and that's why they have put together a range of student residences that are designed to give their students a safe and secure environment. The University accommodates all new international students for the academic year starting in September. All they need to do is apply for accommodation by July 31.
