Established in 2009, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi is one of the top management colleges in India. IIM Ranchi was set up with support from IIM Calcutta and the Government of Jharkhand, under the guidance of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. IIM Ranchi has been ranked 18th in the management category in the NIRF Ranking 2025.

IIM Ranchi courses include MBA, IPM, and PhD programmes, in multiple types and specialisations. Along with General MBA, MBA HR & MBA BA are also available. It is the only IIM offering a full-time MBA Human Resource Management (HRM) programme. IIM Ranchi accepts CAT scores for MBA admissions, while for IPM admission at IIM Ranchi, the IPMAT scorecard is a must. There has been remarkable growth in the last few years in terms of IIM Ranchi placements with major brands such as Deloitte, Bain & Co, PwC, KPMG, Bosch, GAIL, Capgemini, ICICI, IBM etc. 

IIM Ranchi fees for MBA are fixed at INR 18.2L, excluding additional fees, while the mess charges around INR 28K per term at IIM Ranchi. Contrary to most flagship MBA colleges, IIM Ranchi fees are quite affordable. However, getting into IIM Ranchi is quite tough, especially with 2025-27 admission hinging on 95 percentile for the General category in CAT 2024.

IIM Ranchi has concluded its placements for the 2025 batch, achieving a 100% placement rate. The highest domestic salary package offered was INR 50.39 LPA. The average salary stood at INR 19.29 LPA, with the top 25% of the batch secured an average salary of INR 26 LPA.
