How to Check PU CET UG 2026 Merit List

Follow the step-by-step instructions given below to check the PU CET UG Merit List 2026:

Step 1: Go to the official PUCET UG portal of Panjab University at cetug.puchd.ac.in.

Step 2: Click on the merit list or notice board link on the homepage. The tentative merit list was released on July 4, and the provisional list will appear here on July 11.

Step 3: Select the programme, B.Pharm, B.Sc Biotechnology, B.Sc Physics, B.Sc Chemistry, or any other subject from the 14 programmes available.

Step 4: Select the stream, PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) or PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology). Separate merit lists are prepared for each stream.

Step 5: Select the category, General, OBC/BC, SC, ST, or PwD. Merit lists are published category-wise within each programme.

Step 6: Find the application number or name to check rank, marks, and qualifying status.

Step 7: If selected in the provisional merit list on July 11, register for physical counselling and report to Panjab University, Chandigarh between July 15 and July 18 with all original documents.

How to Raise an Objection Against PU CET UG 2026 Merit List

The objection window is open until July 7, 2026. Candidates who find errors in their tentative merit list entry must act today or tomorrow.

Step 1: Log in to cetug.puchd.ac.in using the registered application number and password.

Step 2: Check the tentative merit list entry for any error in name, marks, category, rank, or other details.

Step 3: If an error exists, prepare a written objection clearly identifying the specific field that is incorrect and the correct value.

Step 4: Attach supporting evidence. For mark-related objections, attach the Class 12 marksheet. For category objections, attach the relevant certificate. Objections without documentary evidence are not considered.

Step 5: Submit the objection through the portal or contact the PU CET office directly at +91 172 253 4829 or cetug@pu.ac.in before July 7, 2026 at the close of office hours.

Missing the July 7 objection deadline means the error carries into the provisional merit list, which directly affects counselling eligibility. No corrections are made after the provisional list is published.

PU CET UG 2026 Merit Formula: How Rank Is Calculated

Final merit rank in PU CET (UG) 2026 combines two components:

75% weightage: PU CET (UG) 2026 percentile score The percentile score is calculated from the raw marks obtained in the entrance exam. The raw score uses marks directly from the answer key.

25% weightage: Class 12 board marks The relevant Class 12 subjects for the programme applied for are considered. A strong board performance can meaningfully push up the combined rank even if the CET score is moderate.

Additional weightage applies for: NCC (National Cadet Corps), NSS (National Service Scheme), and sports performance. These provide additional marks over and above the base 75+25 formula.

Tiebreaker rule: If two candidates have the same combined merit score, the candidate with the higher raw CET score is ranked higher. If that is also equal, the older candidate is ranked higher.

Separate merit lists for PCM and PCB streams: Candidates who appeared in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) and PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) are evaluated in separate pools. A student who appeared in both streams appears in both lists.

Minimum qualifying threshold: General category: 15% of total marks. SC/ST/BC/PwD: 10% of total marks. The qualifying threshold is low, the actual competition happens at the merit list stage, not at the qualifying cutoff. Check Panjab University Cutoff

PU CET UG 2026 Physical Counselling: What to Expect

Physical counselling at Panjab University, Chandigarh runs from July 15 to July 18, 2026. All candidates must be physically present. There is no online counselling for PU CET UG.

Documents to carry at counselling:

• Physical Counselling Form (2 copies, downloaded from the login account at cetug.puchd.ac.in)
• Admission Form (2 copies, downloaded from the login account)
• PU CET (UG) 2026 scorecard
• Class 10 marksheet and certificate
• Class 12 marksheet and certificate
• Category certificate for OBC/BC/SC/ST/PwD (if applicable)
• Character certificate from the previous institution
• Migration certificate (if from a board outside Panjab University jurisdiction)
• Passport-size photographs (4 copies)
• Aadhaar card or valid government-issued photo ID
• Fee payment confirmation (fee paid online at payonline.puchd.ac.in after seat allotment)

Candidates not present on the assigned counselling date lose the seat. Panjab University does not allow proxy attendance or rescheduling for physical counselling.
