Advanced placement credit is college credit that students earn before they matriculate as first-year students, and can count toward degree requirements. Each college at Cornell specifies their own criterion for AP credit. At AAP, the primary purpose and value of AP credits is to exempt students from introductory classes and place them into advanced classes. All advanced placement credit is applied as free elective credit, with the exception of credit earned for the English Literature and Composition and English Language and Composition exams. URS students may apply credit from those exams toward a maximum of one First-Year Writing Seminar.
