SCHOLARSHIP FOR ECONOMICALLY BACKWARD STUDENTS IN RURAL AREAS 

Toc H Institute of Science & Technology (TIST), established in the year 2002, by Toc H Public School Society is rated as one among the top 10 Self Financing Engineering Colleges in Kerala.  The Institute is focused on application of Technologies for the benefit of rural masses and realize that rural poverty can be reduced only by giving opportunities for higher education in this sector.  

The Institute currently offers B.Tech. courses in Electronics & Communication Engg. (ECE), Computer Science & Engg. (CSE), Information Technology (IT), Electrical & Electronics Engg. (EEE), Mechanical Engg. (ME) & Civil Engg. (CE), Two year full time MBA Programme (Residential) & M.Tech. in VLSI and Embedded Systems and Computer Science.

During the academic year 2015-16, the Institute intends to offer scholarships to economically backward students belonging to Rural Area. 

I. Mode of selection:  

An objective type written test will be conducted for the eligible candidates (only those who have appeared for Kerala State Common Entrance Test, can appear for the written test).  The selection criteria is as follows:  

1. Educational qualification for appearing for the written test is the same as prescribed by the CUSAT/Kerala Govt.  
2. Parents should not have an annual income exceeding Rs.1,00,000/-  
3. The final selection will be done from the short listed candidates (based on his/her rank of written test and interview).  
4. The written test shall be conducted at our Institute and the question paper will be objective type (similar to the model of Common Entrance Test by Kerala Govt.).  No TA/DA will be paid to the candidates appearing for the examination.  
5. The valuation of paper will be done by an independent committee set up by the Management for the purpose and all decision made by the committee shall be final regarding ranking and other norms.  
6. The examination date will be 15.6.2015.  and the syllabus will cover Maths, Physics & Chemistry.  There will be one question paper having 3 parts viz. Mathematics (50 marks), Physics and Chemistry - 25 marks each. 

 II.     Duration of the scholarship:  

Presently, the scholarship is intended for one year (I & II semester) and its extension to subsequent semesters shall be based on the satisfactory performance of the student in the University Examinations, in subsequent years.  

III.   Value of scholarship:   

The scholarship will be given from the Management Quota.  Value of the scholarship will be 100%, 75% & 50% of tuition fee waiver, considering their economic and family backgrounds.  Regarding allotment of branches of study, the Management shall have full discretion.

IV.   How to apply   

Application forms can be downloaded from our website and submit the same to College Office with a payment of Rs.50/-  Eligible candidates should submit their applications along with mark list and income certificate before June 8, 2015.
