Shri Shivaji Mofut Education Society Kandhar, was formed on the auspicious day of Shiv Jayanti, in the year 1948. Kandhar is a Taluka place, situated in the hilly region of Nanded District. The society opened Chatrapati Shivaji Boarding to feed the poor students from villages and Tandas. Thereafter the society opened several high schools, prominent among them are Shivaji Mofut High school Kandhar and Sant Gadage Maharaj Mofut High School Loha, to the effect of Govt. of Hyderabad had issued letter stating there in the work of Hon’ble Dr.Keshavraoji Dhondge. The society embarked upon the task if bringing legal education to the rural area where students learn law in a different environment while the study law in class room they also interact with rural litigants who are illiterate and badly need legal help either free or at nominal legal fees. In fact Dr. Keshavraoji Dhoindge (Honoris causa) who enrolled himself as a law student in I.L.S. Law College of Pune way back in fifties and have to leave midway determinedly opened Shri Shivaji Law College Kandhar on 15th June 1993, and enrolled himself as first Law Student of this college. The genesis of Shri Shivaji Law College Kandhar thus lies in the foresight of Veteran Freedom Fighter, Great Educationalist Journalist, legislator and litterateur Dr.Keshavraoji Dhondge. The Government permission to establish Law College at Kandhar was result of assurance given by the then Law and Justice Minister Hon. Shri Ramraoji Adik on the floor of house. The College is indebted to the Bar Council of india, New Delhi who accorded necessary approval in due course and also Dr.Babasahed Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad and Swami RamanandTeerth Marathwada University, landed for granting affiliation. The unique feature of Shri Shivaji Law College Kandhar is that it is the only Law College situated in the rural and hilly area. Shri Shivaji Mofut Education Society Kandhar has been serving in this region imparting education in various fields to the masses. The society gives free books, free accommodation, free boarding to underprivileged students. Shri Shivaji Mofut Education Society provided eight acres of prime land exclusively for Law College. The Law College is having office building, Principal’s room, Class rooms, library and play ground. The proposed construction of double storied building with all facilities is in progress. The College library has more than 2700 Titles of worth Rupees seven lacks. The college has well qualified and experienced teaching and administrative staff. The college is included under sec. 2(f) and 12(b) of University Grant Commission Act, 1956&faced NACC in 2004

College library is well equipped with all types of law books, journals periodicals. Four books are given to each student at a single occasion with a condition to change after a week book ban scheme is provided to the student belonging to the backward classes with the aid from the Social Welfare Office of the State Government. The student have to deposit all the books in the library six days before the examination. Those who wants to deposit the books in the library after examination, they have to deposit the cash amount of the price of the book in such invent they can return the books to the library after the examination the students can utilize the reading room for their study during the examination period from 8.00 am to 10.00 pm on every working days. Multi dimensional personality development of the student is the object of college curriculum. In addition to the lecture method of teaching other methods like seminars, discussions, debates on burning issues etc. are adopted. Active participation of the students in moot court proceeding is adopted for the development of students. Modern teaching methods like audio/ visual aids like multimedia projectors, are in process under the UGC funding. Public address, legal awareness camps, lok-adalat are conducted. University level examinations are conducted by the university at the end of each semester for the evaluation of the students.
