Overview Placement

The Placement Office facilitates in securing placements for students passing out from the Institute. The office keeps close liaison with various industrial establishments (both private and public sectors), which conduct campus interviews and select students from all disciplines. The Placement Cell provides the infra-structural facilities to conduct group discussions, tests and interviews. The Office interacts with over 800 industries in the country,  of which nearly so many companies visit the campus for holding campus interviews. The industries which approach the institute can be broadly categorised as :

  • Core Engineering industries

  • Software / IT Industries

  • Manufacturing Industries

  • Consultancy Firms

  • Management Organisations

  • R & D laboratories etc.

Pre-Placement Talks are organized from August to November and campus interviews from December every year. Job offers, dates of interviews, selection of candidates etc. are announced through the Placement Office Notice Board. Similar communication is sent to the Notice Boards in each hostel and announced in the placement website for students.

The office does not compel students to accept any job offer, nor does it recommend any particular student to the industry. The entire procedure being purely voluntary, the Placement Office serves to merely bridge the gap between a job-aspirant and a prospective employer. However, it helps students to plan their careers by providing information about the industries which approach the Institute. At the beginning of the academic year, a general-body meeting of final-year students interested in placement activities is called, where they are briefed about the modus operandi of placement procedures and the expectations of industries based on the experience of previous year. Advice is given on how students can go about in securing coveted positions in prestigious establishments.

The Placement Office is assisted by a committee comprising representatives of students. The committee evolves a broad policy framework every year. Students members are closely co-opted in implementing these policy decisions.
