St. Agnes College - SAC

St Agnes College is a catholic Minority Institution which form its inception has imparted higher education to the women of South India. It has ever since proved to be a standard bearer of repute in th field. The instituition hs the distinction of producing women graduates who hold positions in different spheres as educators, scientists, chartered accountants, middle and higher-level management professionals and service professionals. The College promotes sound social and family values that make for continuous internal upgradation, especially in the areas of teaching and learning, reasearch and publication, faculty improvement and extension activities. Honours Programmes, Certificate Courses and Minor Research projects, conducted on a regular basis, keep the staff ever alert to the contemporary needs of society and the demands of the job market. The College took the initiative of submitting itself to the accreditation process conducted by the NAAC. It was the first instituition in Mangalore University to do so. The College had the honour of being awarded a 'Five Star' grade. Following the re-accreditation process by the NAAC in 2005 and in 2012, the College earned an 'A' grade. It has, besides, been recognised as a 'College with Potential for Excellence' in 2006 and again in 2011 by the Post 'CPE' PHASE II grant by th U. G. C> and been the recipient of the 'Jimmy and Roselyn Carter Foundation Parternship Award' for its path breaking work in the field of watershed management which has greatly benefitted villages in the suburbs of Mangalore. However, no institution committed to the cause of higher education can rest contended on its laurels. St. Agnes College is sensitively aware of this. Therfore to promote academic excellence in teaching and research, the Management of St. Agnes College has accepted the status of academic autonomy for the College since 2007. In the autonomous set up, the College is free to frame its own Syllabi for the various courses and adopt suitable innovative methods of Teaching, Learning and Evaluation. The Mangalore University confers the degree or gives the diploma to the qualified candidates presented by the College. The government will continue to provide financial assistance in this set up. With autonomy, the College will be more efficient to teach job oreinted subjects, conduct examinations and announce results within the prescribed structures of the Semester pattern.

St. Agnes College Placements

The College has established this Cell in the year 1998 in view of helping students to get useful and systematic guidance on careers open to them in their respective field of study. The Career Guidance Committee members along with the Coordinator of the Cell Mrs. Laveena Rodrigues.,  chalk out various enrichment programs as well as conduct coaching classes in order to train the students to answer various competitive examinations. An attempt is made to hold campus recruitments for the benefit of those students who are pursuing professional and vocational courses of study. Objectives of the Cell: To study job potentials available in the job market To establish contact with Companies/Organization to invite them for Campus Recruitment and Placement. To encourage students to appear for the competitive exams in management, computers and public services. To co-ordinate the time line program at the departmental level and guide them based on their objectives. Students are provided opportunities to learn about Careers and options available to each stream of subjects. The Career Counselor, Mrs. Laveena Rodrigues arranges for guest lectures, Interactions, and mock interviews to prepare students for future life and Careers. The Career Guidance Cell conducted five UGC sponsored Career-oriented programs as certificate courses, besides seven other courses offered at the college level during this academic year. About 415 students enrolled in these courses during the odd semester of 2013 and benefitted from them. The Cell conducts the following programs in coordination with various departments of the college.
