The University of Wolverhampton is a public university founded in 1827. It is in affiliation with MillionPlus and Universities UK. The roots of the university came from the Wolverhampton Tradesmen and Mechanics Institute and the 19th-century Wolverhampton Free Library. They offered technical, scientific, commercial and general classes. In 1969, this institute merged with the Municipal School of Art, to form the Wolverhampton Polytechnic. The ranking of the University of Wolverhampton as per THE (Times Higher Education) World University Ranking is 8011000.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The University of Wolverhampton has a total of 4 campuses. The four main campuses are located in West Midlands, Staffordshire in England. The main campus is located in the Wolverhampton city centre. Three residence halls, administrative offices, student support facilities and most of the academic departments are on this campus. The 2nd campus is at Walsall in Staffordshire. They provide various facilities like music, dance, sports, events management, health and other education departments. The Student Village of this campus provides housing to over 300 students. They even have a Sports Centre which has a swimming pool, practice halls, pitches, tracks and fitness suites. The third campus is the Telford Innovation Campus. Over here, students are offered various courses like engineering, computing, business, environmental studies and social work. The six-storey Building in this campus consists of an executive learning suite, IT suite, cafeteria, central social space, consulting rooms, and innovative teaching spaces. The fourth campus in Wolverhampton is at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park. Apart from these campuses, the university runs a Health Education Centre for nursing students, which is located in Burton-upon-Trent. It offers more than 500 undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate programs in arts, engineering, basic and social sciences, architecture, education, environmental studies, liberal arts, and management.

Accomplishments & Alumni

The University is 2nd all over the UK, in terms of employability. This is because 96% of the students who graduate have full- time jobs. In June 2013, a team of students from the university won a Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Award (THELMA). It was given for their one-stop shop initiative for promoting services to business. Apart from this, the university was given the highest level of commendation by the Quality Assurance Agency in 2015,for the enhancement of student learning opportunities. The University of Wolverhampton has a huge list of alumni, which includes well- known people like Nandcoomar Bodha (Former Politician), Chauhdry Abdul Rashid JP (Birmingham's Former Mayor), Jeff Randall (Business Journalist), Anish Kapoor (British Sculptor), Howard Jacobson (British Journalist and Novelist), Julian Peedle- Calloo (Actor and TV Presenter), Clare Teal (Broadcaster and Jazz Singer), Ben Stewart (Actress) and Andy Thompson (Former Footballer).

Student Diversity & Visiting Companies

The university has a total of 19,045 studying there currently out of which 2500 are international students. 58.6% of these students are females. Wolverhampton has been highly successful in encouraging wider participation in higher education. The university attracts two-thirds of its students from the West Midlands. They have approximately 22 corporate partners. They provide internships and job opportunities to students. Some of these corporations include AFC Telford, Ansaldo, British Red Cross, Capgemini, Carillion, Carvers Building Supplies, and Fortress Interlocks.

The latest COVID-19 guidelines for teaching and on-campus return of international students at The University of Wolverhampton isas follows:

  • The UK Government has permitted the universities to conduct all the courses on campus from May 17,2021. However, by this time, the fall 2020 semester of undergraduate courses at the University of Wolverhampton will complete and so the non-practical courses will complete the remainder of their studies 2020-21 AY online.

  • The decision related to postgraduate courses on-campus teaching programme will be taken soon and the same will be informed to students.

  • The staff of the University of Wolverhampton have worked effortlessly to ensure that the campuses are safe for the return of students. Health and safety is still the foremost priority of the University of Wolverhampton and the team will continue to monitor the situation to maintain safety.

Scholarships for International Students at the University of Wolverhampton

The University of Wolverhampton has launched a generous scholarship for international students who want to settle in the UK. All new international students who will be enrolled at the University of Wolverhampton in the academic year 2020/21 will be offered an international bursary of £1,000 per year of the academic year.

Eligibility Criteria to Receive New Fund to Support International Students (2020/2021)

Students who receive a conditional offer from the University of Wolverhampton automatically become eligible to receive the scholarship. The amount of scholarship will be offered under the international students scholarship. 

There is no need to fill in a separate application for the scholarship. The candidate must select the desired course while filling the application form and the university will get in touch with them if they are successful to be considered for the scholarship. 

The scholarship amount is £1,000 and covers the tuition fee of the candidate for the first year.  

Commonwealth Shared Scholarships 2021-22

The University of Wolverhampton is offering Commonwealth Shared Scholarships for the academic year 2021/22. Students who are applying in either of the two subjects mentioned below at the University of Wolverhampton are eligible to apply for the University of Wolverhampton.

  • MSc Advanced Technology Management (Sustainability)

  • Masters in Public Health (MPH)

The Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are jointly funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and UK universities. The scholarship is offered to support talented and motivated students to acquire skills and knowledge for contribution in sustainable development.

It also supports students who cannot afford to study in the UK but have outstanding achievement in academics and other curricular activities. 

How to Apply?

The first step to receive the scholarship is to complete the online application form for MSc Advanced Technology Management (Sustainability) or Masters in Public Health (MPH) at the University of Wolverhampton. 

In further sections of the application form, they indicate that you are applying for a CSC scholarship. 

Also, highlight your interest in the particular two subjects and how you would contribute to society after studying MSc Advanced Technology Management (Sustainability) or Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Wolverhampton.
