Valparaiso University is a private university established in 1859. Initially, the university was named Valparaiso Male and Female College because it was the first co-educational institute in the United States. Presently, it is the largest independent Lutheran University. Commonly known as Valpo. According to the US News and World Report 2020, it is ranked 4th in the midwest region of the States. It is also rated as Best Undergraduate Teaching School and 3rd Most Innovative School. For QS Global Ranking it is ranked between 800-900.

Among various accreditation that university holds, there are additional accreditations for the College of Business - Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, College of Engineering (ABET), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Law School - American Bar Association, Council for the Accreditation of Education Preparation, for Department of Music it is National Association of Schools of Music, the Department of Social Work holds accreditation from Council on Social Work Education and Clinical Mental Health Counseling holds accreditation from Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational programmes.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The campus of Valparaiso University is spread over 350 acres divided into 2 sections, the Old and the New Campus. The new campus consists of all the academic buildings. The old campus is home to the School of Law. The university offers more than 70 programmes to its students for undergraduate and graduate studies. The library at Valparaiso university holds about 5,00,000 books that are accessible to their students. The University offers a number of undergraduate courses including Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Bachelor of Social Work.

Accomplishments & Alumni

One of the major accomplishments is that the business school of Valpo is ranked as the top 5% of business schools in the world. Some of the renowned alumni of Valparaiso University are Adam Amin - ESPN broadcaster, John E. Cashman - State Senator of Wisconsin, the film critic Fredrick Barton, Bryce Dew - Basketball Coach.

Valparaiso University has the most diverse campus with only 1/3rd of the student population coming from Indiana. The remaining student population comes from nearly 50 countries. The University has a healthy gender ratio with 46.1% male and 53.9% female. It has more than 100 organisations administered by their students including various clubs and activities.
