MBBS Admissions Eligibility Criteria

Students who aim to become medical professionals can apply for admissions to MBBS Course only if they satisfy the eligibility criteria. MBBS Selection Process

Admissions to MBBS are offered to candidates that qualify the NEET UG Cutoff. In order to apply for MBBS Admissions, candidates must first fill out the NEET UG Application Form. Before filling out the form, candidates must ensure that they satisfy the eligibility criteria. Students who have filled the application form before the deadline must now prepare well and appear for the exam on the announced date. MBBS Admission Process: How to Apply?

All the important notifications and updates regarding NEET UG are released by NTA on its official website. Since NTA is the official conducting body that conducts NEET UG and offers MBBS Admissions, students are advised to regularly check the official website - nta.ac.in.

Candidates who wish to apply for MBBS Course must follow the below mentioned steps :

  • Log on to the official NTA portal - nta.ac.in and fill out the NEET UG Application Form.
  • Students are required to upload a list of documents while they fill the Application Form. Ensure that the image/document you upload does not exceed the maximum limit. Pay the application fee and you can now submit your application. 
  • After the NEET UG Exam has been conducted, results will be announced on the NTA website. Students are advised to regularly visit the website to check the results.
  • Candidates who appear in the NTA NEET Merit List are eligible to participate in the Counseling Rounds. On the basis of choice filling and NEET UG Scores, aspirants are offered MBBS Admissions in colleges across the country.

MBBS Entrance Exam

The only Entrance Exam accepted by Medical Colleges across India for MBBS is NEET UG 2023. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is conducted by NTA every year to offer MBBS/BDS/BHMS admissions to medical aspirants. With the latest changes in the exam pattern, NEET UG will now consist of 200 questions and candidates will be given 200 minutes to attempt the exam. Out of the 200 questions, candidates need to attempt only 180 questions. The marking scheme for the exam is as follows : +4 for each correct answer and -1 for each incorrect answer. There are a total of 4 sections in the exam : Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Each section consists of 50 questions and candidates can choose to leave any 5 questions from each section.

MBBS Admissions Counseling Process

MBBS Counseling is conducted for students who appear in the NEET UG Merit List. While the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) is responsible for conducting the 15% All India Quota Counseling Rounds, the 85% State Quota Counseling is handled by the Entrance Examination/Education  Boards of different states. MBBS Counseling consists of four rounds : Round 1, Round 2, Mop Up Round and Stray Vacancy Round.
