How to Apply for GMAT 2018

GMAT is an examination which is conducted for the aspirants of management studies around the globe. Applicants from more than 100 countries apply for GMAT every year to take admission in 2000+ management institutions. This examination takes place on different date slots as prescribed by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) and candidates have the privilege to select the date slot as per their convenience at the time of applying for the examination.

It is very important for candidates to apply for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) if they wish to take admission in top B-Schools of India and abroad. To do so, candidates can visit the official website of GMAT and apply by registering online. Candidates must most importantly read and know the process involved in applying for GMAT 2018. Only with a successful registration, candidates will be able to appear for GMAT. Candidates must also check the eligibility criteria required for GMAT and then apply for the examination.

There are a number of parameters that must be kept in mind while registering for the GMAT examination online. Steps to Apply for GMAT

Create an Account

  • In order to apply for GMAT 2018, you first need to register on the GMAT’s official website by creating an account on it.

  • After successfully creating an account, you will be redirected to the login page.

  • You will then have to fill in the asked credentials like Name, Email Address, and Password, and then, click on ‘Create Account’ option.

  • After logging in you will be directed to the verification page where you will be required to verify your profile details. You must ensure that the information matches your ID.

This is important because if the profile credentials do not match on the GMAT test day, you will not be allowed to take the test and no refund will be given afterwards. You may also be marked as ‘No Show’.

Exam Scheduling

  • After the account creation, aspirants can then schedule their GMAT test dates.
  • The same account can be used to cancel or reschedule the exam or centre.
  • Students can also access their scorecard with the help of this GMAT user ID and Password and send it to various B-Schools as well.

Choose GMAT Date

  • Applicants registered for GMAT can choose up to three GMAT Exam Centres to confirm GMAT Exam date availability of their choice.
  • Once they select the centre of their choice, the tests dates of that centre appear. Clicking the preferred date shows its availability as well as the available session slot to select.

Confirm Exam Details

As the applicants select the date and exam session, the next page displays the complete profile as well the selected date and slot to be confirmed. Candidates are advised to carefully examine all the information before they click 'Next'. Any irregularities in information can be corrected at this stage.

The next page is the payment page. Payment for the GMAT test can be done with Credit or Debit cards. Only the following cards will be accepted for making payment:

  • JCB are accepted in the payment procedure

Important Points to Remember 

  • Candidates must know that they can sit for GMAT exam only if they are of 18 years and above. Candidates between the age group of 13 years to 18 years need to get a consent signed by their parents or guardians and submit it with to the concerned authority.

  • A total of 8 attempts are provided to the candidates of GMAT in which 5 attempts can be taken in one year.

  • Candidates must know that they can attempt for a retest only after a gap of 16 days.

  • GMAT candidates can also select a time slot for the examination along with the date of examination.
