To attempt the exams from their homes, candidates must register and apply for the same. However, it must be noted that the GRE General Test at Home depends on the COVID-19 regulations in place at the respective country.

The online method of GRE registration is completed on the official website of ETS. Here are the steps for the online GRE registration.
1. Create an Account
The first step in the online GRE registration depends on whether you are a first-time user or not.
The first time users are required to create an account on the ETS website.
If you are not a first time user, you can directly log onto the website by entering your username and password.
2. Enter the Required Information
Once you have created an account on the website, you will need to provide more information.
You will be asked to feed in some additional details which may prove to be handy at the time of admission.
3. Select the GRE Test Centre and Date
After entering all the required details, you will have to select a GRE test centre that suits your convenience.
You can also select a date for you as per your preference.
Candidates can access the whole GRE calendar on the ETS website to make an informed decision about selecting their GRE test date.
After selecting a GRE test centre and date, you will be redirected to the payment page.
You will have to pay the GRE registration fee of $205 through that page.
You must carefully read the exam details before proceeding with the payment.
5. Acknowledgement Receipt
After making the payment, you will get a soft copy of an acknowledgement receipt.
You can print the acknowledgement receipt and keep it for potential future use.
With this, you will have successfully registered yourself for the GRE.
Applying for the GRE through a phone is a very simple process. Here are the steps you would need to follow to complete the GRE registration via phone.
Step 1: Call the RRC (Regional Registration Centre).
Step 2: The phone number on which you need to call is 91-124-4147700.
Step 3: You must make sure to make a call prior to at least two business days from the GRE test date of your preference.
Step 4: To ensure your registration, you will be given a confirmation number, your test centre address and your GRE reporting time.
Step 5: The RRC (Regional Registration Center), which is ‘Prometric’ is located in Gurugram, Haryana.
Follow the steps mentioned below to register for the GRE test via mail.
Step 1: Print an application form for GRE that you can access through the ETS website.
Step 2: Complete the application form entering all the required details.
Step 3: You can then mail the application along with an application fee to the following address -

Haryana – 122002
Step 4: Once your application has been received at the address, you will be either mailed or faxed a confirmation number and address of your exam centre along with the timing of your test.
Step 5: You must ensure to mail the application at least three weeks before your preferred GRE date.
GRE registration through Fax is somewhat similar to that of the registration process through mail.
Step 1: Take a print out of the application form and fill it.
Step 2: Once you have filled in all the details, include an application fee in the form and send it to 91-124-4147773.
Step 3: Soon, you will receive a confirmation number, address of your exam centre and test timing.
Step 4: You must ensure to mail the application at least seven days before your preferred GRE date.
Read the following steps carefully and follow them at the time of registration.
1. Visit the ETS Website
The first thing you will have to do is to visit the ETS (Educational Testing Services) website.
Navigate through the website to find the GRE page
2. Go to the GRE Page
Under the Products option on the top of the home page of the ETS website, you will find a link to the GRE page.
Click on either the GRE General Test option of the GRE Subject Test option (as per your choice).
3. Create an ETS Account
Creating an ETS account is important for you to proceed with your GRE registration and choose a date.
If you are a new user, you will have to create an account whereas if you are an already existing user, you will simply have to log in by entering your credentials.
4. Go to the ‘Find Test Centres and Dates’ Page
After following the steps mentioned above, navigate through the GRE General Test or the GRE Subject Test web pages to find the link to test centres and dates.
Click on the link and proceed with the process.
5. Fill the Form
You will have to select the GRE test type you are aspiring to take from the dropdown options.
After that, you will have to enter your location so that you can find a GRE test centre that is near you.
In the next step, you will have to choose at least two months according to which, you will be shown the available GRE test dates.
At last, you will have to enter a Restricted Reservation Code which is optional.
Finally, submit the information by clicking on the ‘Find Available Test Centres and Dates’ option.
6. Select the GRE Test Dates
Submitting the form will redirect you to a new page.
On that page, you will be shown all the available dates for your selected GRE test and location.
You will have to click on one of the available dates (in green) and select date as per your convenience.
If you feel that none of the dates available in the months that you have selected seems convenient to you, you can go back and change the months.
Here are the steps involved in the online process to reschedule GRE test dates.
Log on to your ETS Account.
Go to the home page and look for the ‘Upcoming Tests’ option.
Click on the link and you will be taken to a page that contains your appointment details.
There, under the ‘Actions’ column, you will find an option called ‘Reschedule Appointment’. Click on it.
Upon doing that, you will find available dates for your test choice at a specific location.
Click on the ‘Find Available Test Centers and Dates’ option and choose a date and place for the test.
You can choose any available date within a year of your original GRE test date.
Click on ‘Register’.
Then, through a pop-up window, you will be asked if you’re sure about proceeding with the rescheduling. Press yes.
Finally, pay a rescheduling fee of $50.
You will have to choose your next GRE test date within a rolling period of 365 days.
Therefore, your next preferred date should be within one year from your original GRE test date. For instance, if your original test date is 15th January, you can choose any available date until January 15th of the following year.
The cost to reschedule your GRE test dates is $50.
Make sure to submit your request to reschedule the date at least four days prior to your original GRE test date.
If you fail to submit your request before the deadline, you will lose the window.
Here are the simple steps to find a GRE test centre near you.
STEP 1: Visit the official website of ETS (Educational Testing Services).
STEP 2: Click on the ‘Test Centres and Dates’ option on the website.
STEP 3: Select a GRE Test that you are interested in taking.
STEP 4: Select your location.
STEP 5: Select a month and year around which you would like to take the GRE test.
STEP 6: Enter a Restricted Reservation Code (if any).
STEP 7: Finally, click on ‘Find Available Test Centres and Dates’.
