The HPCET 2022 marking strategy includes negative marking for every incorrect answer chosen by the applicant. All responses chosen by the applicant will be considered incorrect, and scores will be deducted consequently. However, unanswered questions will not be marked negatively or at all.
Each correct answer earns the applicant two points. In contrast, for each incorrect response, 12 points will be deducted from the applicant's overall score.

The exam will be administered offline, with applicants provided with OMR sheets. The test will contain multiple-choice questions. The exam will be divided into 3 areas based on the stream and degree for which the applicant has decided to apply. The exam will last three hours.
Each stream has its own exam pattern. Each correct answer will earn the applicant two points, while each incorrect response will cost the applicant twelve points.
The bachelor's exam consists of 150 objective questions that must be answered in three hours. The questions are multiple-choice, with four options for each.
