The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is expected to launch the IGNOU B.Ed entrance exam 2026 application form soon. To apply for the entrance test, you must have finished Graduation or Post-graduation with at least 50% marks. The exam has two parts - Part A and Part B. IGNOU B.Ed Entrance Exam 2026 eligibility criteria must be known to the students seeking to apply for this admission test. Here are the main pointers:

• Students must have obtained at least 50% marks in a Bachelor’s degree and/ or in the Master’s degree in Social Science/ Commerce/ Humanities/ Science. 
• Those who have completed a Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with a specialisation in Mathematics and Science with a minimum of 55% marks or similar qualifications can apply for IGNOU B.Ed.
• Additionally, they must be trained in-service teachers in the area of elementary education
• They must have completed an NCTE-approved teacher education programme via Regular mode/ Face-to-Face mode.
• Also, there will be a relaxation of 5% in minimum eligibility for applicants from SC/ ST/ OBC (Non-creamy layer)/ PWD as per the Central Government rules. Kashmiri Migrants and war widow applicants will also be provided reservations based on the rules of the university.

Registration

• Applicants must refer to the prospectus and the information brochure for the guidelines of the application process.
• To complete the registration process, they have to fill out the “Student Registration” form. They have to type in particulars such as name, Father’s name, date of birth, gender, email, mobile number, username, password etc., and get their credentials generated.
• Once they have the login details with them, they can then proceed to the next step.

Steps to Fill IGNOU B.Ed Entrance Exam 2026 Online Form

• In this stage, they have to log in to their respective accounts and begin filling out the online application by furnishing personal details, course details, qualifications, communication address etc.
• Once done, they have to upload scanned copies of the photograph and signature as per the specified format. 
• The scanned photograph and the signature must be less than 100 KB and 50 KB respectively.
• Next, they have to pay the IGNOU B.Ed entrance exam application fee via online modes such as Debit/ Credit card (Master/ Visa/ Rupay) or Net banking.
• After completing the payment, they must take a print of the payment confirmation slip for future reference.
• Subsequently, they can cross-check the online form with the help of the “Form Preview” option and complete the submission.
• They must save the submitted copy of the form and also take a hardcopy print of the same.

IGNOU B.Ed Entrance Exam admit card is expected to be released in the 1st week of March 2026. Candidates who complete the application form are qualified to download the admit cards. Please note that it is mandatory to bring the IGNOU B.Ed hall ticket and a Government-issued photo ID card to appear for the test. 

The admit card will be released online at ignou.ac.in. To retrieve the hall ticket, applicants have to click on the IGNOU BEd admit card link and download the same after entering their login credentials. They must cross-check if the details are correct. Once done, they must save a soft copy of it and take its printout.

• Students must reach the exam venue per the reporting time mentioned on the hall ticket.
• They must review the instructions on the IGNOU B.Ed admit card and make sure to abide by them.
• Without the admit card, they will not be allowed to appear for the entrance test. Hence they should remember to carry the same with a photo ID card.
• Photo ID proofs accepted at the exam premises include PAN card/ Aadhaar card/ Driving license/ Passport/ Voter ID.
• They must not bring mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, pagers, headphones, purses, handbags, pencil boxes, log tables, or any other gadgets.
• In case of any doubts, they must reach out to the invigilator.
• They must possess exam essentials such as pens, pencils and other items allowed and not request any such thing from other candidates.

The university typically declares the IGNOU B.Ed Entrance Exam results within a few weeks after the test. This year, the result is expected to be released in June 2026. To check the results, test takers have to visit the official portal. Examinees must download their IGNOU B.Ed scorecards and take a printout of them as well. Some details that will be available on the marks card include the name, application number, enrollment number, total marks secured, etc.

The conducting body organises the IGNOU B.Ed entrance exam counselling within a few weeks after the results are announced. There will be 3 to 4 rounds of counselling during which category-wise merit lists/ seat allocation lists (both provisional and waiting list) of candidates will be furnished by the Regional Centres.

These seat allotment lists/ merit lists are prepared based on the merit in the admission test and the web selections filled by them. Those who are on the list will have to report to the respective Regional Centres and complete the admission formalities.
