JEE Board Scraps 60/40 Weightage for Admissions

The Joint Entrance Examination Apex Board (JAB) has announced that the 60/40 weightage formula for admissions will no longer be taken into consideration for the admissions into 31 NITs, IIITs, Government, and Technology Institutes and Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST).

The candidates who want to seek admissions in these institutes have to get a minimum 75% marks in the Higher Secondary Examination or rank among the top 20 percentile students in the board exams. Apart from the rank secured in the entrance test, this will be the minimum criterion to qualify for a seat.

However, the decision is yet to be taken regarding the admission of students in NITs, IIITs, IIEST and GTIs basis the IIT-JEE rank, or whether or not there will be a separate entrance test. As of now, the JEE is unlikely to be scrapped as most of the states use these ranks for admission purposes.
