Here are some of the most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about MAT 2021 that every candidate must know.



How many times is MAT conducted in a year?

MAT is conducted four times in a year. The four seasons of MAT are February, May, September and December.

How many modes are there of MAT?

MAT is conducted in three modes, which are -- Paper Based Test (PBT), Computer Based Test (CBT) and Internet Based Test (IBT).

What is the maximum age limit to apply for MAT?

There is no maximum age limit to appear for MAT as per AIMA norms.

Can I appear in all four seasons of MAT?

Yes, you can appear in all four seasons for MAT in a year. Candidates who are not satisfied with their score appear multiple times to try for improvement.

Do I have to fill a separate application form for each season of MAT?

The MAT Application Form released by AIMA is valid only for a single season of MAT. You have to fill a separate application form for each season.

How many times can I appear for MAT?

There is no limit to the number of times you can appear for MAT.

Can I apply for MAT without having work experience?

Yes, having work experience is not a mandatory criteria to apply for MAT. However, some colleges accepting MAT score may have it as a criteria.

Do I have to pay a separate fee each time I apply for MAT?

Yes, each time you  apply for MAT, you will be required to pay a separate application fee along with your form.

What is the validity of MAT score?

MAT score is valid for a single academic year. MBA/ PGDM colleges only accept MAT scores from the current year.

How many colleges accept MAT score?

MAT score is accepted by more than 600 management colleges in India for admission to their MBA and PGDM courses.

Can I make corrections in my MAT Application Form after submitting it?

No, once you have submitted your MAT Application Form, there is no provision for correction of entered data.

Is 400 a good score in MAT?

Yes, 400 is considered to be a good composite score in MAT. 

What is the different between raw score and scaled composite score in MAT?

Each section of MAT contains 40 questions worth 40 marks total. This raw score of the section is scaled from range of 0 to 100 to take into account the difference of difficulty level between various modes and seasons of MAT. The composite score is the sum of these scaled scores.

What does a MAT score of 199 mean?

If a candidate receives a composite score of less than 200, it appears as a 199 on the MAT scorecard.

What is the meaning of a MAT score of 801?

Any scaled composite score greater than 800 appears as 801 on the MAT scorecard. This is a rare occurrence.

Will I be given a new admit card every time I apply for MAT?

Yes, a separate admit card will be issued for you each time you fill the MAT application form. Make sure you are always carrying the latest admit card to the exam centre.
