The SAT Results or scores are announced by the College Board and the multiple-choice scores and SAT Essay scores are released on different dates. The SAT scores are usually declared within one-two weeks after the test day and within 10 days after receiving the scores, the Board sends your scores to the selected colleges. Most colleges require students to send their score reports directly from the College Board. One can send four free score reports to colleges each time they register for the test which requires no additional fee. Students can send their scores online or by mail or phone. COVID 19 Alert

The SAT which was scheduled to be conducted in May and June was cancelled due to the COVID 19 pandemic. The next test will be held from August at various SAT centres across the country.

How to Get SAT and SAT Subject Test Scores?

Follow the steps given below to access SAT scores:

To get the SAT scores online:

  • Visit the official website of the College Board and log in to the student score portal.

  • Follow the instructions to verify the account by using your registration number from the SAT and SAT Subject Tests.

  • Click on the “View Details” CTA.

  • Click on “Download Report” and take a print out of the same. 

Note: Use a desktop only.

Other ways to Get SAT scores:

  • Students who register by mail will be sent paper score reports.

  • Students can get SAT scores by phone by paying an extra fee.

  • Students can also access or request old SAT scores by paying an extra fee.

How to Calculate SAT scores?

The SAT score ranges for the SAT have been given in the table below to help you calculate and interpret the score better:

Types of SAT Scores

  • Total Scores: The total score is the sum of two section scores and its range is 400-1600.

  • Section Scores: Section Scores are in the range of 200-800 for each of two sections based on Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math.

  • Test Scores: The range for Reading, Writing and Language and Math Test scores is 10-40.

  • Cross-Test Scores: These scores depict performance on select questions in any of the three tests whose range is 10-40. 

  • Sub Scores: Sub-Scores are in the range of 1-15 which are based on skill areas like Command of Evidence, Words in Context, Expression of Ideas, etc.

  • SAT Essay Scores (if taken): Scores for the optional SAT Essay are in the range of 2-8.

How to Send SAT Scores?

If you want to send the scores before they are released, then you send four free score reports to colleges every time you register for the test. However, if you want to send the scores after they are released, you would be required to pay a fee. 

You can send the SAT scores by following the below methods:

  • Online- Sign in to your College Board Account and follow the instructions to send it.

  • Send it by mail- Here, you have to complete and mail the Additional Score Report Order Form available on the College Board website.

  • Send it by Phone- Call the Customer Service at 212-713-7789 (international).
