IIT Bombay will release the provisional seat allotments for admission to the BDes programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee, and IIITDM Jabalpur for Academic Year 2026-27 on April 21, May 19, June 10, June 24, and July 3, 2026. According to the important dates notified by IIT Bombay at its official portal, uceed.iitb.ac.in, those who will pass the UCEED 2026 exam to be conducted on January 18, 2026, can apply for the UCEED 2026 seat allotment process.

To get your seat allotment letter, you can simply log in with your application number and password. If you are selected, you will receive a provisional allotment letter in your email. To secure your spot, you will need to pay the seat acceptance fee. For GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL candidates, it is INR 60,000, and for SC/ST/PwD candidates, it is INR 15,000. UCEED 2026 Counselling Process

There are three seat allotment rounds in the UCEED 2026 counselling. The first step is the submission of B.Des admission application form. The second step involves the allotment of seats or acceptance and payment of seat-acceptance fee. The post allotment seat options will be made available in step 3. UCEED seat allotment will be done on the basis of UCEED 2026 merit rank, choices opted at the time of choice filling, and category of the candidate. After this, you are required to report to the allotted institute.

What After the UCEED 2026 Seat Allotment Declaration?

Once the UCEED seat allotment 2026 results are out, candidates need to make a choice:

• Float: Stick with the assigned seat but hope for a better one.
• Freeze: Happy with the given seat and don’t want to take part in more rounds.
• Withdraw: Agreed to the seat but want to back out before the final round.

Note: Once candidates decide on their preferred option, they must pay the UCEED seat acceptance fee before the deadline.

• At first, the allotment of FIRST Choice Institute is done to the candidate and he/she can choose to ACCEPT (FREEZE) or DECLINE the offer. However, if he/she declines the seat, he/she will not be considered for seat allotment in any subsequent rounds and the current allocation will also be cancelled.
• After this, allotment of SECOND/THIRD choice of the institute is done, in which the candidate has two options before him/her: to ACCEPT (FREEZE) the choice or ACCEPT with the OPTION to be CONSIDERED for UPWARD MOVEMENT (‘float’) for subsequent rounds (if any).
• If the candidate accepts the seat and confirms the current allocation, then he/she will not be considered for subsequent rounds.
• If a candidate opts for the “FLOAT” option, it implies that he/ she has the option to accept the higher preference seat or decline it. In this case, he/ she may be offered a higher preference seat (if available) in a subsequent round. 
• If the candidate accepts the higher preference seat, it will automatically lead to the cancellation of the seat allocated in the previous round. 
• However, if the higher preference seat is declined by the candidate or no higher preference seat is offered (or available), he/she will continue to hold the current allocation.
• In the last round of seat allotment, the seat allotment results will be announced and there will be no option to withdraw/ decline an accepted/ allotted seat.

UCEED 2026 Seat Allotment Process

The seat allotment process for UCEED 2026 began from commence from April. There will be three stages once the students have successfully registered for UCEED counselling. The seat allocation will be completely based on rank, category, and preference. 

The students will be getting Provisional allocation letters through registered email. The students must pay the seat acceptance fee of INR 60,000 if they represent the general category. SC/ ST/ PwD students will have to pay an online seat acceptance fee of INR 15,000/-.

The Joint Seat Allotment process will be governed by the following rules:

• The shortlisted candidates' admission will be revoked if they fail to pay the seat acceptance fee within the time limit specified. The next group of rank holders in the coming rounds will be awarded the seat.

• Applicants will have a choice between two options if they receive the fort's preference according to their selection. They have the option to accept the seat offer and "freeze" it, or they can reject it and be allowed to participate in the subsequent round of seat distribution.

• If the candidate's second or third choice of institution is given, they may accept it or accept it with the chance to "float" the choice — that is, accept it with a possibility of upward mobility. This also applies to the shared distribution of seats.

• If the applicant wants to "freeze" their acceptance of an offer, they must agree not to take part in any more seat distribution rounds. In the future phases of the admissions process, those candidates will not be taken into account.

• If the candidates select the "floating" option, take the assigned seat, and state that they intend on staying/ studying at their current institution if they are admitted to a university of their greater preference. On the other hand, those applicants will be given the chance to take part in further admission stages.

• Applicants who selected the "float" option in the previous round will lose their accepted seat, as shown by the allocation of a seat to a student in their higher-priority university. Other pupils can then be assigned to the empty seats.

• Applicants must pay a one-time seat acceptance fee once the seats are made available to them. Even if they transfer to a different institution, candidates who select the "float" option are not required to pay the seat acceptance fee.

• The seat acceptance fee will be subtracted from the institute's registration fee at the time of enrollment if an applicant accepts an assigned seat.

• In the event of a withdrawal, any compensation against the seat acceptance fee will be made following the policies of the relevant university.

• Every applicant who withdraws from the admissions process before the end of the final round of seat distribution will receive a complete refund, excluding a processing fee of INR 3,000.

• If an applicant withdraws their registration after the last round of seat assignments, they will not be reimbursed.

• Documents attached to the counselling form are checked by the authorities

• The attached document should be valid and correct.

• Candidates have to carry all the original valid documents with them.

• If any information is found to be incorrect or misleading, the admission of the candidate will be cancelled there and then.

UCEED Seat Allotment 2026 Important Points

• However, if you fail to pay the seat acceptance fee on or before the date mentioned, or turn down the admission, your application will stand cancelled and you will also not be considered for any further rounds of UCEED seat allotment.
• Once you are allocated your first-choice institute, you will have the option to either ACCEPT (freeze) the offer or DECLINE it. If you decline the offer, please note that you will not be considered for any subsequent rounds, and your current seat allocation will be cancelled.
• In case you choose to ACCEPT, FLOAT, or FREEZE your seat, you will have to remit the full UCEED seat acceptance fee as mentioned in the provisional seat allotment letter.
• In case you accept the seat, the acceptance fee will be deducted from the total institute fees when you join. In case you decline the seat after paying the acceptance fee, the refund will depend on the policies of the admitting institute.
