UPSC IFS 2024 Notification

UPSC IFS 2024: As per the latest announcement by the Union Public Service Commission, the UPSC CSE Prelims exam, which serves as the screening test for the Indian Forest Service Examination has been postponed from May 26, 2024, to June 16, 2024. This change has been incorporated to avoid clashing with the General Elections.

The Union Public Service Commission released the UPSC IFS 2024 notification for the UPSC Indian Forest Service Exam 2024 on February 14, 2024. The UPSC IFS Application Form 2024 was available from February 14 to March 5, 2024. The UPSC opened the correction window for UPSC IFS Prelims 2024 from March 7 to March 13, 2024, accessible on upsc.gov.in. Adjustments, such as altering application details and the OTR profile, could be made during this period. Once submitted, applications are deemed final and cannot be withdrawn The UPSC IFS Mains 2024 exam is scheduled to be held on November 24, 2024. IFS Notification 2024 was released for 150 posts. About UPSC IFS 2024

UPSC Indian Forest Service (IFS) examination is a national-level exam conducted for the recruitment of eligible aspirants into forest services. The Indian Forest Service examination consists of two successive stages- the Civil Services Examination (Preliminary) Examination and the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination (Written Test and Personality Test). UPSC IFS Eligibility Criteria 2024

Aspirants can check the UPSC IFS Eligibility Criteria 2024 from UPSC Notification 2024. The candidates should be graduates of any government-recognized university or UGC-approved university. Those who are in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply for UPSC through their graduation result should be declared before the final exam of UPSC.

UPSC IFS Eligibility Criteria: Nationality

A candidate must fulfill any one of the nationality conditions:

  • A citizen of India
  • The subject of Nepal
  • The subject of Bhutan
  • Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 01, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries like Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India
  • Candidates belonging to categories b, c, d, and e should produce a certificate of eligibility, which has been issued by the Government of India.

UPSC IFS Eligibility Criteria: Educational Qualifications

  • The candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree with a specialization in one of the subjects specifically, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Zoology.
  • Candidates with a Bachelor's certification in Agriculture or Forestry or Engineering are also eligible for the UPSC IFoS exam.

UPSC IFS 2024 Selection Process

Candidates should be aware of the detailed process of the UPSC IFS Selection Process 2024.The Selection of the candidates for the UPSC IFS is done in three stages:

  • Stage-I: Preliminary Exam
  • Stage-II: Mains Exam
  • Stage-III: Interview

UPSC IFS Application Form 2024

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will issue the IFS application form 2024 for the prelims exam on February 14, 2024. The last to submit the UPSC IFS 2024 application form is on March 5, 2024. The candidates will be allowed to make corrections in the UPSC IFS application form 2024 in February 2024 on the official website. The application fee is INR 100 for the prelim exam, and candidates can pay the fee in both offline and online mode. Candidates who clear the prelims stage will have to fill out the UPSC IFS Detailed Application Form (DAF) for the Mains exam. The application fee for UPSC IFS DAF is INR 200 which candidates can pay either offline or online. Women, SC, and ST candidates do not have to pay the application fee.

UPSC IFS Exam Pattern 2024

UPSC IFS exam is a national-level forest service exam which recruits grade 1 officers in the central forest department of India. Being a level 1 exam, it is necessary to understand the UPSC IFS Exam Pattern 2024. UPSC IFS exam is conducted in three stages:

  • Stage 1: UPSC IFS Preliminary Exam
  • Stage 2:  UPSC IFS Mains Exam
  • Stage 3:  UPSC IFS Interview

UPSC IFS Prelims Exam Pattern: There are two papers, GS I and CSAT, both objective in nature. Each question in the General Studies paper carries 2 marks. Each question in the Civil Service Aptitude Test paper carries 2.5 marks. There is a 1/3 mark deduction for every incorrect answer.

UPSC IFS Mains Exam Pattern: The IAS (UPSC CSE) exam and the UPSC IFoS Mains exam are wholly different tests. The Indian Forest Service Mains Exam consists of 6 papers. Each essay is of descriptive variety. The student selects two optional subjects from the provided list.
