Punjab CET 2017 - Application Steps

Create Login ID
  • The application is to be submitted online by filling up the Application Form available at University website. 
Completing the Online Form
  • Open the Link on the web page and fill personal information like Name, User ID, Password, Category, Gender, E-mail ID, Security Question & Answer and Date Of Birth.
Uploading Photograph
  • Participants should upload all scanned copy of their Documents in required size and format.
Payment of Fees
  • Application Fee of 1000/- (Non-Refundable) is to be deposited in branches of designated banks, as per the instructions.
  • The Application form will be available for sale at : PTU Kapurthala Campus, PTU Jalandhar Campus, Directorate of Technical Education Plot No-1, Sector-36 A, Chandigarh, Punjab Bhawan, Room No. 708, B-Block Copernicus Marg, New Delhi and All Engineering/Pharmacy/Architecture Colleges affiliated to PTU and selected branches of Punjab National Bank for Rs. 1000/- at counter, by post through DD in favour of Registrar, PTU payable at Jalandhar.

Eligibility for Punjab CET 2017

1. The student should have passed matriculation examination with minimum 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST category). 2. The students, who fail in any one of the subject Mathematics, Science and English are not eligible for admission.

Punjab CET 2017 Important Instructions

(i) The candidates be admitted strictly in accordance with the Regulations/Rules contained in latest University Calendars/guidelines/any other Instructions which have been issued/may be issued by the University, from time to time, for the respective Courses/examinations and in order of merit. The instructions given in this circular should in particular be adhered to while making admission for the session . The list of all such candidates selected for admission/waiting list be displayed on the Notice Board of the respective College.

(ii) The admission forms should have separate columns for Father’s and Mother’s names. The name of mother and father should be mentioned in all records. However, in case some students do not wish to declare the name of both the parents (either of mother or father) they may not be insisted upon and no one be denied admission on this ground.

(iii) Where the number of the seats are fixed, the total number of students admitted to a particular class must not exceed the number of seats sanctioned by the University.

(iv) The admission be made according to the schedule of dates approved by the University and circulated by the Deputy Registrar (Colleges) from time to time.

(v) When an admission notice is given in the Newspapers by the respective college, it should be clearly mentioned that the candidates coming from other Universities/Boards/Councils/Bodies must bring with them, qualifying examination Certificate at the time of admission. Migration Certificate be submitted latest by 30th of September in the University Office. These certificates be verified from the Result Gazette. If Gazette is not available student should submit an affidavit to the effect that if the documents are not found correct his/her admission to the course will liable to be canceled.

(vi) For admission, fraction of marks less than the requisite percentage would not be rounded off to the advantage of the candidates, i.e. 32.9%, 39.9% and 49.9% shall not be rounded off to 33%, 40% and 50% etc.

(vii) Permission of the Vice-chancellor is necessary for admission after the expiry of the last date. However, the candidates be admitted provisionally at their own risk and responsibility subject to approval of the late admission by the Vice-Chancellor and conveyed to College/Deptt. by the University.

Punjab CET 2017 Relaxation Policy

  • 50% Seats are reserved for the economically weaker students hailing from rural area.
  • 5 seats, from the remaining 50% seats, are reserved for the residents from within the revenue limits of Mansa Kalan (including Mansa City).
  • 85% seats are reserved for the candidates from within the state of Punjab and 15% are open to the candidates from outside the State. As per the University Reservation Policy, the percentage of reservation for each of the categories is as under:-

(i) Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes                 -               25%
(ii) Backward Classes.                                  -                        5%   
(iii) Border Areas/Backward Areas (2% each)           -           4%
(iv) Sportspersons                                     -                           2%
(v) Children/Grand Children of Freedom Fighters.       -        1%
(vi) Disabled Persons:                                  -                         3%

(a) Blind                        -          1%
(b) Deaf & Dumb            -          1%
(c) Other Handicapped    -          1%

(If suitable candidates are available in anyone of these sub-categories, the seats so available will be filled up by the candidates from the other sub-categories of disabled candidates and if they are not available in any sub-category then seats shall be filled up from general category candidates).
(vii) Children/widows of defence personnel killed or disabled to the extent of 50% or more in action, wards of gallantry awardees, children of serving defence personnel/ex-servicemen (2%).

The priority to this category is given as under:
(a) Killed in action
(b) Disabled in action & Boarded out of service.
(c) Died while in service & death attributable to military service.
(d) Disabled in service & Boarded out of service with disablity attributable to military service
(e) Gallantry award / other award winners both serving / retired.
(f) Serving Defence Personnel / Ex-servicemen.
(viii) Children/widows of Para-military forces personnel, Punjab Police, PAP and Punjab Home Guards killed or disabled in action to the extent of 50% or more; and children of paramilitary forces personnel/ex-paramilitary forces personnel, wards of Punjab Policemen decorated with Gallantry Medals (2%).
(ix) November 1984 riots-affected displaced persons, children of the Army deserters Killed/100% physically disabled, children of the families of persons killed as a result of terrorist violence or by security forces acting in aid of civil authorities and the children of innocent civilians who have sustained 100% disability in terrorist violence or during operation by Security forces acting in aid of civil authorities (2%).
(x) The reservation of T-Sunami affected persons shall be available for the children /grand children of original ex-serviceman settler of Campbell Bay Island only (1%).
