SET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The SET 2024 eligibility criteria include the eligibility norms that aspiring candidates must fulfill to sit for the entrance test. It is necessary to fulfill the eligibility conditions to be considered eligible for admission. As part of SET 2024 eligibility criteria, candidates will have to fulfill requirements such as age, qualifying exam, the marks scored by candidates, subject combination in qualifying marks, etc.

SET 2024 Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate Courses

Candidates must go through the following eligibility criteria for different undergraduate courses offered by SIU-affiliated colleges:

B.Tech
  • Passed class 12 exam with Physics, Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Candidates should have had any one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subjects.
  • Should have obtained at least 45% marks (in case of General category) or 40% (in case of SC/ST category) in the subjects mentioned above.
BCA
  • Passed 10+2 or diploma in engineering/technology.
  • Should have scored a minimum of 50% marks (in case of General category) or 45% marks (in case of SC/ST category).
BBA
  • Passed 12th class examination from a recognized board with minimum 50% marks (45% marks for SC/ST candidates).
B.Sc (Liberal Arts)
  • Passed 10+2 in any stream with a minimum of 50% marks (45% marks for SC/ST).
  • NRI candidates taking the final Class 12th exam in India may also apply.
  • NRIs, Foreign  Nationals  (FN), and  Persons of  Indian  Origin  (PIO) must apply through the Symbiosis Center for International Education (SCIE).
B.A.LL.B./B.B.A.LL.B.
  • Passed 12th in any branch with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates).
  • Candidates awaiting the results of their qualifying exam are also eligible to apply. Such candidates have to submit the passing certificate during the final admission process.
B.Sc. Economics (Hons.)
  • Passed Class 12th in any stream with a minimum of 50% marks (45% marks for SC/ST category).
B.Des
  • Passed 10+2 in any branch or equivalent or 10+3 diploma with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Final year appearing students may also apply.

SET 2024 Eligibility Criteria for Various Campuses

Here is the list of all the symbiosis campuses and their required eligibility criteria:

  • SLS-Pune (symbiosis Law School – Pune [SLS-B.A LLB] Hons), (Symbiosis Law School – Pune [SLS-B.B.A LLB] Hons), SLS-NOIDA (Symbiosis Law School – Noida [SLS-B.A LLB), (Symbiosis Law School – Noida [SLS-B.B.A),  AND SLS Hyderabad (Symbiosis Law School – Noida [SLS-B.A LLB), (Symbiosis Law School – Noida [SLS-B.B.A LL)

The applicant must have completed Class 10+2 from any recognised board with a minimum score of 45 percent (40 percent for SC/ST) 

  • SCMS- Pune and SCMS NOIDA (Symbiosis Center for Management Studies [SCMS)

The applicant must have completed Class 10+2 from any recognised board with a minimum score of 50 percent (45 percent for SC/ST) 

  • SICSR (Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research [SICSR BBA),(Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research [SICSR BCA), SID (Symbiosis Institute of Design [SID), AND SCMC (Symbiosis Center for Media and Communication [SCMC)

The applicant must have completed Class 10+2 from any recognised board with a minimum score of 50 percent (45 percent for SC/ST) 

  • SIT (Symbiosis Institute of Technology [SIT)

The applicant must have completed his or her Class 12th exams with Physics and Mathematics as main courses, as well as one Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational or elective subject. To be able to qualify for the SET 2023 examination, the applicant must obtain a minimum score of 45 percent in the above subjects (40 percent for SC/ST).

  • SSE (Symbiosis School of Economics [SSE), SSLA (Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts [SSLA) AND SSCA (Symbiosis School of Culinary Arts [SSCA)

The applicant must have completed Class 10+2 from any recognised board with a minimum score of 50 percent (45 percent for SC/ST) 

SET 2024 Eligibility for International Students

Symbiosis International (Deemed University) has set aside 15% of the total seats for international students including Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) Card Holders, Foreign Nationals (FN), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) Card Holders, and Non-Resident Indians (NRI).

For Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)

According to the notification released by the Government of India (GOI) on 9th January 2015, all the currently registered Persons of India Origin (PIO) shall be considered as Overseas Citizens of India cardholders.

For Foreign Nationals

An aspirant is eligible to apply as a Foreign National if he/she is registered as a citizen of any country besides India. He/she must hold a foreign passport. 

For Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)

Candidates who have an OCI card and are granted Overseas Citizenship of India can be held eligible to apply for SET 2022 as an OCI.

For Non-Resident Indians (NRI)

Aspirants applying for SET 2024 as an NRI shall meet the eligibility criteria mentioned below:

  • Must have appeared for either 10th or 12th examination outside India.
  • Candidates who have appeared for the 10th examination outside India must have appeared for the 12th examination in India.

SET Reservation Policy 2024

The college has a reservation policy in place for accepting applicants into different programmes. Kashmiri Migrants and Kashmiri Pandits/ Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non- Migrants) living in Kashmiri Valley are given two seats per programme. Foreign applicants will be given 15% of the available seats. Applicants from the reserved categories must bring supporting documentation to the PI-WAT/ST-PI.

SET 2024 Reservation Policy: Important Points to Remember

Check out the following key details about the SET 2024 reservation policy:

  • At the period of the Personal Interview (PI) or Written Ability Test, applicants trying to apply for the reservation criteria will be expected to send necessary documentation issued by the appropriate authority.
  • Applicants applying under the Armed Forces Dependents section will be considered in the OPEN/General category.                                               
  • Applicants applying under the category must have their disability verified by the Symbiosis Center of Health Care (SCHC). Only after SCHC authentication will the admission be considered regularized.
  • Candidates who fall into more than one group must select one category when completing the SET registration form, and advantages and allowances will be considered based on the category selected all through the SET 2024 application process.
  • If the candidate's data is found to be inaccurate at any point in time, the SIU has the right to cancel that candidate's application.

SET 2024 Reservation Policy: Nagpur Domicile

Applicants who have lived in Nagpur for 5 years or more and also have finished Class 12 or similar from the Maharashtra Board will be given a 25% reservation. They must have the required documentation with them during the PI and WAT rounds:

  • The competent authority issues a certificate of domicile.
  • Grade 12 mark sheet Applicants taking the Class 12 exam must submit a genuine certificate from their current university, as well as their Class 10 marksheet.

What is SET General by the Symbiosis University?

SET General is an entrance exam held by the Symbiosis University which a candidate must qualify to get admission in BBA, BCA, Hotel Management, Liberal Arts, Economics, Culinary Arts and Mass Communication.

Can I apply for a B.Tech course through SET if I have qualified class 12th in arts?

To apply for a B.Tech course through SET you must have qualified class 12th with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects. Candidates must also have Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology or Technical vocational subject. It is also crucial to secure 45% for General and 40% for reserved categories in the aforementioned subjects.

I have completed a diploma. Can I register for a BCA course through SET?

If you have completed a diploma in Engineering or Technology with a minimum of 50% marks for unreserved and 45% for reserved categories, you can register yourself for a BCA programme at the Symbiosis University.

Is any relaxation offered in the minimum aggregate score in SET to SC/ST candidates?

Yes, SC/ST candidates are provided with 5% relaxation in the eligibility criteria for the SET exam.

I have not received the result of class 12th, can I apply for SLAT exam?

If you are awaiting the result in the qualifying exam, you can still apply for SLAT, provided that you produce a passing certificate during the final admission process of SET.

Are SLAT, SEED, SET and SIT EEE exams conducted on the same day?

SLAT, SEED, SET General and SIT EEE are SET exams for different courses which are conducted during separate days.

Can an International Student register for SET?

Yes, International students can register themselves for the SET exam.

I have qualified for a 3 years long diploma but have not completed class 12th. Can I apply for a B.Des programme through SEED?

If you have qualified a 3 years diploma, you can register yourself for the SEED exam.

I have pursued class 12th but do not meet the minimum aggregate score. Can I still apply for SEED?

No, meeting the minimum aggregate score prescribed by the Symbiosis Institute is as important as qualifying the educational qualification making a candidate ineligible for the exam if he/she fails to satisfy any of the two.

What is the minimum aggregate that is required to apply for BBA through SET?

A minimum of 50% marks in the class 12th exam is required to pursue a BBA programme through SET. Reserved category candidates are given a relaxation of 5% and they can apply with 45% marks.

47 is a low score in the SET 2020 exam and not enough to shortlist you to the PI stage for Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies (SCMS), Pune.

You can check the SET 2020 Cut Off to get an idea of the marks required for selection. 2019 cut off for SET went as high as 87 for the General category candidates.
