SET (General) 2017 - Application Steps

Create Login ID

Registration is the first step for filling SET application form. Aspiring candidates need to register themselves online as per the steps mentioned below.

  • Go to and click on “New Registration” window
  • Go through all the guidelines and instructions carefully
  • Click in “I Agree” button
  • Enter the required details for registration
  • Click on “Save and Continue”
  • You will receive an SET ID and password on your registered email ID

 Note: Preserve this registered SET ID and password as it will be required at various stages further.

Filling Application Form

The next stage after registration is filling the application form online. The following details are required while filling the application form.

  • Personal information
  • Academic details
  • Communication particulars
  • Course opting for
  • Exam centre details
Uploading Scan Copy of Documents
  • Candidates need to submit the print out of On line Registration form, Entrance Exam Score Card and Original documents like:
    • 12th Mark list
    • 12th Passing certificate
    • 10th Mark list
    • 10th Passing certificate
Payment of Fees
  • Pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 1500/- towards the test fee

  • Candidates have the option of paying through any one of the following five (5) payment methods:

    • Online Payment Through Credit Card:

Submission of Application Form
  • After fee payment, candidates must take print out of the filled in SET application form . The print outs should be kept safe for future reference and until the admission procedure gets completed.
  • Only after the payment is authenticated, would you be able to view your Admit card.

Note:

  • Please note that Symbiosis Test Secretariat will not be responsible for non-delivery on any delay on the part of courier / postal services.
  • It is also mandatory to complete registration by filling up the on line application form of desired institute for desired programme before the closing date of application of the respective institute.

How to Apply for SET (General) 2017

  • Register at official website. This will generate your SET ID.
  • You must to upload your latest scanned photograph (in the required format and size) at the time of online registration.

Candidates have the option of paying through any one of the following five (5) payment methods:

  • ONLINE PAYMENT THROUGH CREDIT CARD: You may pay directly through either Master or Visa card online. Follow the instructions given on the SET Website..
  • ONLINE PAYMENT THROUGH NET BANKING: You may transfer your SET test fee to Symbiosis Test Secretariat account using Net Banking option.
  • ONLINE PAYMENT THROUGH Paytm: You may transfer your SET test fee to Symbiosis Test Secretariat account using Paytm.
  • ONLINE PAYMENT THROUGH INDIAN BANK NET BANKING: You may pay your SET test fee to Symbiosis Test Secretariat account. You can also pay the application fee for various institutes through Indian Bank Internet Banking option.
  • CASH: This ‘Payment Advice’ form is presented in three parts. Pay Rs. 1500/- in cash at Axis Bank or Indian Bank branches in your city. Refer to the list of branches on the Website. The bank will return two parts of the ‘payment advice’ form to you. The ‘student copy’ is your receipt.
  • Sign the Symbiosis copy of the ‘Payment Slip’ form stamped by Axis Bank or Indian Bank and send it to:-

  • DEMAND DRAFT: Get a crossed demand draft for Rs. 1500/- from any Nationalized Bank in favour of “Symbiosis Test Secretariat” payable at Pune.

Important:

  • The SET registration fee and institute (s) programme registration payment are nonrefundable. Please note that claims for refund of the SET registration fee as well as institute programme registration payment will not be entertained on any account.
  • At the time of filling the online application form or while appearing for the SET test, any attempt to impersonate or indulge in any other malpractice would automatically disqualify the candidate from admission processes at all under graduate institutes of Symbiosis International University and make the student liable to legal prosecution as per the laws of country.
  • Every student is urged to note that no donation or capitation fee is required to be paid for admission to any of the Symbiosis institutes. Students are cautioned against falling prey to any such assurance/offer by any individual or outside agency.

Eligibility for SET (General) 2017

Candidates have to ensure that they are eligible to take admissions as per the given eligibility criteria: Candidates who have passed or expecting the result of their class 12th can apply for the SET. Candidates have to secure minimum 50% marks in class 12th by general category students and 45% aggregate marks by SC/ ST Age:-Candidates who will appear for SET exam should not be more than 20 years old, whereas 22 age limit is set for SC/ ST category candidates.

SET (General) 2017 Important Instructions

  • Bring the following documents while reporting to the Test Centre:
    • Admit Card
    • Your latest coloured passport size photograph should be pasted on the Admit Card at the place provided for
    • Photo identity as specified in the Admit Card page
    • Blue/Black ballpoint pen
  • Cell phones, calculators, watch calculators, alarm clocks, digital watches with built-in calculators/memory or any electronic gadgets will not be allowed in the examination hall
  • Occupy the seat allotted to you by verifying the SEAT NUMBER pasted on the desk and indicated in your Admit Card
  • The Test Invigilator will check your Admit Card
  • The Test Booklet will be distributed just before the starting time of the Test. The candidate must ensure that the booklet is sealed. If the seal is found broken or tampered with, please bring this matter to the notice of the invigilator immediately
  • At 14.00 hrs, the Test Invigilator will instruct you to open the seals of the Test Booklet and commence answering the test
  • Check immediately that all the pages of the booklet are in order. In the rare event of the Test Booklet being defective, bring it to the notice of the invigilator immediately who will arrange for the replacement of Test Booklet, if required

SET (General) 2017 Relaxation Policy

As per the UGC guideline 2006, the reservation policy for all the institutes under the University is as follows:

Within the sanctioned intake

SC - 15 %

ST - 7.5 %

Differently Abled - 3 %

Over and above the intake

Kashmir Migrants - 2 seats per program

International Students - 15 %

Defence Quota - 5 % for SLS-PUNE, SICSR and SCMS-Pune.

Note:

  • Candidate applying for the above-mentioned categories will be required to submit the supporting documents at the time of PI-WAT.
  • Candidates applying for Defence Quota other than above mentioned three institutes (SLS-Pune, SICSr and SCMS) will be considered as candidates in OPEN Category.
  • Differently Abled candidate means a candidate having any of the disabilities defined in Person with Disabilities Act – 1995, suffering from not less than forty percent of the disability as certified by a competent government medical authority.
  • The candidate will have to get the disability authenticated from Symbiosis Centre of Health Care (SCHC), the admission may be considered as regularized only after due authentication by SCHC.

SET (General) Application FAQ

1) How to Register For SET – 2017?

  • A candidate can register for one paper from the morning session; viz, Law or Design and one paper from the afternoon session; viz, General or Engineering or Health Sciences Register at www.set-test.org  
  • This will generate your SET ID.For Engineering and Health Sciences, a candidate need not register for SET if he / she wishes to offer scores of entrance tests other than SET such as JEE(Main).  
  • Such candidates may apply directly to the preferred institute, this is also applicable for SSCA (Symbiosis School of Culinary Arts) score of NCHMCT-JEE is accepted
  • You must to upload your latest scanned photograph (in the required format and size) at the time of online registration.

2) How to pay to Undergraduate Institutes of Symbiosis International University?

You may pay online/offline for admission to an undergraduate institute of the University. The feeis Rs. 1500/- per programme.Candidates have the option of paying through any one of the following five (5) payment
methods:

  • ONLINE PAYMENT THROUGH CREDIT CARD:

3) I have completed the online application. But, I have not taken a print out. How can I get a print out now?

You can go to the applying online page again and enter the personal details AND the application number. You will be taken to the printout page again. 

4) When will I get my Admit Card?

Admit card will be available for view and print in the first week of May (onwards). You will have to log onto the SET website with your registered User ID. You will be eligible for an Admit Card only upon submission of online application form. You will receive an automated email confirmation upon successful submission from website.

5) I have received the SET ID & Password, what can I use it for?

You can use the SET ID /email and password to fill in the SET application form, view / print the admit card, check MyMail, modify personal details. If you apply to institutes which take SET scores, you should use your SET ID.

6) I could not register online for SET, since the following error message appeared – “Java Script Error”.

Please use Internet Explorer Ver 6.0 or above. Please note that the browsers like Mozilla firefox and Google chrome will also support the application.

7) I am unable to download the e-bulletin.

Your connection may be slow. Please try again.

8) I could not register online for SET, as I am not able to proceed after “I agree” in the terms and conditions page.

To enable JavaScript goto:

  • Tools>>InternetOptions>>Security>>Custom Level. Scroll down until you see section labeled ‘Scripting’ Under ‘Active Scripting’,select ‘Enable’ and click OK. ”
  • Click refresh and do the registration again.

9) My current address is valid only till March end. Is it possible for me to update and make a change in the address in early April?

Yes, you can modify any set of personal details. You can do this after you have received your SET ID /email and password.

10) I have registered online and sent the DD/Bank counterfoil. What is the next step?

Congratulations on completing the first step to qualify for SET. You must have received an email of SET Payment confirmation after the authentication.

11) I registered online, but sent my DD without mentioning the SET ID. What do I do now?

Please send an email to info@set-test.org providing the DD number, bank on which it was drawn, your name, date of birth, phone number and email id. Mention “sent payment without SET ID ” in the subject line.

12) I filled up the form online and have taken the DD also. I do not have access to a printer to print the payment advice form. What do I do?

You need to fill in your details with your SET ID on a plain white sheet and send the DD along with it.
