CMAT 2017 - Counselling Updates
While the MBA aspirants are gearing up for the upcoming Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2017, a lot of candidates might be curious to know the next steps involved in the admission process to their dream B-schools, after they are through with the CMAT.
Once the results for CMAT 2017 are announced, candidates who pass the cutoff or make it to the merit list are called for the final selection process by the respective colleges that they applied for at the time of registration.
The final selection process for CMAT is conducted by the institutes and generally consists of following steps:
- Group Discussion (GD)/ Written Aptitude Test (WAT)
- Personal Interview (PI)
- Final Selection
Based on the performance in GD/WAT and PI, institutes give out a final selection list which is either published on the website or sent to the selected candidates.

6) I have learnt that the test will not disqualify anybody, but will just give a rank to all test takers. The colleges, based on their individual merit list can decide if candidate of a certain rank is eligible for admission. Is the CMAT score only to rank candidates?
CMAT has been designed to assess all the candidates who appear in the test based on their aptitude towards the management education in the order of their merit. The objective of the test is not to eliminate the candidates from the process of seeking admission in the AICTE approved management programmes, rather to facilitate the institutions to select the suitable candidates as per their merit.
