NATA Counselling FAQ

1) For how long is the NATA score valid?

NATA-2017 score shall be valid only for admission in the session 2017-18.

2) What are the Tie breaking rules for overall score?

During merit listing, all candidates would get unique rank. Therefore, if more than one candidate gets the same overall marks, tie breaking logic would be applied in the following order:

  • More overall marks obtained in Mathematics test component
  • Less wrong answers in attempted ones of Mathematics test component
  • More overall marks in problems of Aptitude test component
  • Less wrong answers in attempted ones of aptitude test component
  • Earlier date of birth.

3) Where can a candidate seek admission on the basis of NATA?

A candidate may apply for admission to any of the participating institutions as per the time schedule specified by the respective appropriate admission authority, along with all the documents desired by it.

4) What is the meaning of Admission Authority?

Admission Authority is a body, authorised by the Central/State Govt. / University to conduct and monitor admissions in that area. This may vary from the Directorate of Technical Education itself, a major University, Institution(s), a body created by an association of Architectural Schools in that State (eg. MASA), or any other Admission Authority recognised by the state. The candidate may be advised to check up in advance with Schools of Architecture where he / she is applying for the details of the admission authority and other information on the exact admission process.

5) If I belong to a particular quota (SC/ST/NT/etc.), do I get score waiver for NATA during admission?

No.,you are not allowed.

6) Are there any additional fees payable for training, etc?

No training/coaching is allowed in Test Centres and no other fees payable for this exam. If any centre indulges is such practice or insists on additional fees or participation in training program, please report such incident to Council of Architecture or NIASA.

7) What are the key provisions of Reservation Policy?

NATA is a qualifying examination where a general merit list will be published along with score of candidate. Reservation is a prerogative of the admission/ counselling authority and this examination has nothing to do with it. However, candidates with specific disability of colour blindness may be debarred from admission to B. Arch. Course, as per the policy of the respective institution/ University.

8) When will the allotment start?

Allotment is expected to start as per schedule published in the prospectus. Details of allotment process such as opening of web site and option registration, etc., will be notified in due course.
