    • Each correct answer shall carry four marks whereas each incorrect answer will lead to deduction of one mark.

SAAT (M.Tech) Exam Prepartions FAQ

1) What is the eligibility criteria for SAAT M.Tech ?

  • Pass or appearing in B.E. / B.Tech / AMIE /MCA/M.Sc. in the respective discipline or equivalent.  
  • Candidates having MCA and M.Sc. (Maths) degree are eligible for M.Tech in Comp. Sc. & Data Processing. Candidates with M.Sc. (Electronics) are eligible for M.Tech. in Electronics & Communication Engineering and M.Tech. in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering. M.Sc. in Computer Science and IT are eligible for M.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering and CS & IT respectively. A candidate with B.Tech. (Environmental / Chemical / Civil / Mechanical / Metallurgy) or M.Sc. (Environmental Science / Chemistry / Biotechnology / Geology / Life Science / Botany / Zoology) is eligible for M.Tech. in Environmental Science & Technology. For M.Tech. Material Science & Technology candidate must have M.Sc. (Physics) / M.Sc. (Chemistry) / B.Tech. (Electronics & Communication Engg.) / B.Tech (Electrical Engg.) For M.Tech. in Biotechnology, candidates having B.Tech./B.E. in Biotechnology or related fields / M.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Science or equivalent / MBBS / B.Pharm./B.V.Sc. with Biology as a subject at +2 level are eligible. For admission to M.Tech, candidates have to pass the qualifying examination with atleast 50% marks.
  • GATE qualified candidates are exempted from the entrance test, but they have to submit the filled up form.
  • Admission into M.Tech. programmes will be done on the basis of performance in SAAT or valid GATE score and personal interview taken together. After the interview, the merit list prepared by the Board members will be final.

2) What is the structure of SAAT?

  • There will be multiple choice questions.
  • The number of questions will be sixty (60) per each hour of examination.
  • Each question shall have four probable answers with only one is correct answer; and the examinee shall have to blacken only the correct circle with HB pencil or black / blue ballpoint pen.
  • Each correct answer shall carry four marks whereas each incorrect answer will lead to deduction of one mark. Each unanswered question will carry zero mark.
  • If more than one circle is darkened for one question, it will be treated as an incorrect answer and one mark will be deducted.

3) What is the minimum marks should I get both in the 12th board examination and in entrance exam to avail a seat in Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University for M.Tech ?

The candidate should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 50% marks in Senior secondary exam. He/she should have a required rank in the entrance test.

4) Is there any negative marking for SAAT ?

  • Each correct answer shall carry four marks whereas each incorrect answer will lead to deduction of one mark. Each unanswered question will carry zero mark.
  • If more than one circle is darkened for one question, it will be treated as an incorrect answer and one mark will be deducted.

5) I am in fourth year of my B.Tech, what will i fill in my Percentage in Graduation in Main Registration Form ?

You can fill the Percentage or CGPA of your last semester or third Year.

6) I have two valid GATE scorecards of GATE 2015 and 2016 for the same paper. Which scorecard shall I submit?

You need to use the scorecard having the higher score.

7) I received GATE scorecard. Am I eligible to apply fo SAAT M.Tech?

Having received GATE scorecard does not mean that you have qualified in GATE. Please see the GATE scorecard for details on qualification. Make sure that your GATE marks are above the cut-off marks of your category and GATE paper. You will not be considered for JMP admission if you do not meet the GATE qualifying marks criterion even though you are allowed to submit the BVU application.

8) I am holding Bachelor of Information technology/science. Am I eligible.

9) Are diploma holders eligible to apply for the program?

No. Diploma holders are not eligible to apply for the program.

10) What is the duration of these M.Tech courses?

All courses are full time two years (Four semesters) program.

11) Any evening batch for this M.Tech courses are available?

No,there are no evening batch for this MTech courses.

12) Are there any breaks during the test?

There are no scheduled breaks in the test. However, test takers can take unscheduled breaks if they want during the test session. An unscheduled break means a break during which the test clock does not stop. If a test taker chooses to take a break, the actual time spent on the break will be deducted from the time allocated to complete the test. No extra time will be given to complete the test. During the break, the test taker must leave the testing room. Upon re-entering the testing room, the test taker must show a valid ID.
