The question paper will have three parts.

  • Part-I and Part-II are compulsory and under Part-III the candidates have to answer the section which has been chosen at the time of registration.

Total Questions- 100

Part- I- 20 Questions

Part- II- 35 Questions but correct answers up to 20

Part-III- 60 to 65 Questions but correct answers up to 60

Total Marks- 100

Test duration- 2 Hours

Marking System –

Part-I -

  • For correct answer 1 and for the wrong answer is 1/3.
  • Multiple shading will be considered as the wrong answer and 1/3 mark will be reduced.

Part-II-

  • All the correct answers up to 20 will be awarded marks and all the wrong answers shall be taken into consideration for awarding negative marks.
  • Multiple shading will be considered as the wrong answer and 1/3 mark will be reduced.

Part-III-

  • All the correct answers up to 60 will be awarded marks and all the wrong answers shall be taken into consideration for awarding negative marks.
  • Multiple shading will be considered as the wrong answer and 1/3 mark will be reduced.

TANCET(M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch./M.Plan.) Exam Prepartions FAQ

1) What is the eligibility criterion?

For admission in any university under TANCET for M.E. or M.Tech. Degrees the candidate needs to have passed with 50% or more marks aggregate (for general), 45% or more aggregate (for SC/ST) with:

  • B.E./B.Tech. in respective fields
  • B.Pharm./B.Sc. (Agriculture/ Fishery/ Forestry/ Horticulture)
  • B.Sc. 3 yrs Course + M.Sc. 2 yrs course in Computer Science or IT
  • A Masters degree in any appropriate field of Science or Arts
  • M.Sc. 5 Year Integral Programme
  • MCA 3 years after 3 Years of Bachelor’s degree.

2) Am I allowed to carry a calculator or mobile into the test venue?

No ,you are not allowed to carry a calculator or mobile into the test venue.

3) Will I get sheets/papers for rough work/calculations etc for TANCET ?

Yes, but no electronic devices are allowed in examination hall/room.

4) Are there any breaks during the test?

There are no scheduled breaks in the test. However, test takers can take unscheduled breaks if they want during the test session. An unscheduled break means a break during which the test clock does not stop. If a test taker chooses to take a break, the actual time spent on the break will be deducted from the time allocated to complete the test. No extra time will be given to complete the test. During the break, the test taker must leave the testing room. Upon re-entering the testing room, the test taker must show a valid ID.

5) What is the examination pattern of TANCET?

There are 3 parts to be answered in the question paper. Part 1 and Part 2 are mandatory; Part 3 allows a choice to the candidate to choose from the allotted 13 subjects. 

6) Are diploma holders eligible to apply for the program?

No. Diploma holders are not eligible to apply for the program.

7) I am a General class candidate and got less than 40% (in the range of 30-40%) in my graduation and 45% (in the range of 40-50%) in post-graduation. Am I eligible for TANCET (M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./M.Plan.) Entrance Exam?

No,you are not allowed.

8) I am doing final semester B.Tech course. Whether I am eligible to apply for (M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./M.Plan.) course?

Yes, provided your final semester results will be declared latest by August second week with 50% marks altogether.

9) What is the duration of these (M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./M.Plan.) courses?

All courses are full time two years (Four semesters) program.

10) Any evening batch for this (M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./M.Plan.)courses are available?

No,there are no evening batch for this MTech courses.

11) I have a consolidated 55% marks in my B.Tech/ or B.Pharm/ or MBBS/ or BDS degree. Whether I am eligible to apply for (M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./M.Plan.) courses?

No. Students should get minimum of 50% marks (consolidated) during their degree program.
