Maharshi Dayanand University conducts Maharshi Dayanand University Entrance Exam M.A. Journalism and Mass Communication. The university was established as Rohtak University in 1976 following the passing of Act No. 25 of 1975 of the Haryana Legislative Assembly (voted on in 1976), with the objective of promoting interdisciplinary higher education and research in the fields of environmental, ecological and life sciences. It was renamed Maharshi Dayanand University in 1977 after the visionary and social reformer, Maharshi Dayanand. It had a unitary and residential character in its nascent stage but became an affiliating university in November 1978. The university secured the recognition of the University Grants Commission in February 1983.It is accredited with an 'A' grade by NAAC.Besides offering courses on campus, it is a collegiate university which provides programs through colleges, institutes and centers throughout the region. The university shares a campus with IIM Rohtak.

1) Can I apply to more than one course? Can I do it in a single application?

If the courses you have opted for fall in the same group, then by all means, go ahead and state your choices in one single application form.
However, if you opt for courses in different groups, then you will need to fill out separate application.

3) I am interested to know about Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU). What kind of University is MDU ,Rohtak?

Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) is a State Government University of Haryana. Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak was established in 1976, through act no XXV of 1975 of Haryana Legislative Assembly, as a residential University, with the objective to promote inter-disciplinary higher education and research with special emphasis on studies of environmental, ecological and life sciences.The University Grants Commission recognized this University under section 2(f) for the recognition of degrees and under section 12(b) of the University Grants Commission Act for central grants on Feb. 23, 1983. In a span of 35 years, Maharshi Dayanand University has progressed leaps and bounds to emerge as a leading University of the state, and northern region of India. It’s now a teaching-cum-affiliating University. At present,(2012) the University comprises of 11 Faculties, 40 post-graduate teaching departments (UTD), One Autonomous constituent institute (University Institute of Engineering & Technology) (UIET), a P.G. Regional Centre at Meerpur (Rewari), an Institute of Law and Management Studies, Gurgaon, and a Directorate of Distance Education (DDE).

5) Where is University Located?

The University is situated at Rohtak, a District Headquarter of Haryana, (India) about 75 kms from Delhi on Delhi-Hissar National Highway (NH-10). It is at a distance of about 240 kms from Chandigarh, the State Capital. It is well connected by rail and road. Rohtak is an educationally forward town where facilities of education in all fields are available. Nearest Airport: Indira Gandhi International Airport New Delhi India. (80 KM – Appox from MDU).

6) I have completed the online application. But, I have not taken a print out. How can I get a print out now?

You can go to the applying online page again and enter the personal details AND the application number. You will be taken to the printout page again. 

7) The admit card has been issued but I am unable to login. What should I do now?

Not to worry, when the admit card is released the website crashes down due to high traffic. The conducting body will take the appropriate measures to resolve the issue.

8) I am unable to access the Online application. Can you send the application form by email or post?

The application cannot be sent by email/post. If you get any specific error while applying, please send an email for help with details. 

9) I have made a mistake while entering some data in my application form. How can I edit/correct it?

The link for editing the application form will be made available on the website in the first week of May and then you can edit the required fields.

10) How to obtain the Admit card after registering for MDU?

After registering for MDU, the Admit card may be downloaded from the official website of the university .

11) I forgot my application number, how do I download my admit card?

It can be downloaded by submitting e­mail id and DoB. However, check the confirmation page of the application form, the required number will be given there.

12) What are the minimum qualifications for the admission?

Bachelor degree/ Shastri examination (New Scheme) of three years duration with atleast 45% marks in aggregate or any other examination recognized by M.D. University, Rohtak as equivalent thereto.

13) I have already earned a bachelor's degree, but now I'd like to study journalism. Do I have to get another BA?

Students who have already earned a bachelor's degree in another field can apply for one of our advanced degree programs.

14) I have done my graduation through a private university. Can I still apply to your institute?

The university should be approved by AICTE / UGC. Also it should be registered under AIU.

15) My Degree Certificate is pending, can I submit the internet result copy declared by the University on the website, and would you consider my application?

  • We require graduation completion related documents that is either all the year Marksheet OR the Provisional certificate OR the Degree certificate. Any one.
  • Your application may be considered if the Graduation related Mark sheets are internet print out, provided you get the internet result copy duly attested from your respective college principal/registrar only with their clear official seal and signatures. However, you would be required to submit the required graduation completion related documents or within the timeline specified by MDU to get confirmed admission. Submission of proper documents as per policies, within the timelines as specified by MDU, for confirmation of admission, is the sole responsibility of the student.

30 seats are filled up every year in the First year of M.A. (Journalism and Mass Communication) Course.

19) Is there any Hostel facility?

There are 8 Hostels (4 for Boys and 4 for Girls) which have a capacity to accommodate as many as 1200 residents. The hostels provide homely atmosphere to the residents. Each Girl’s Hostel is looked after by a full time Lady Warden. Indoor games and recreational facilities are available in each hostel. STD and canteen facilities are available in each hostel. Mess in each hostel is run by the residents on cooperative basis and hygienic food at very reasonable charges is made available to the residents.
Six hostels (three for boys and three for girls) are under construction. Each hostel having capacity of 250 residents, is equipped with all necessary facilities like internet, indoor games etc.

20) Which resources are available in MDU library?

Apart from regular text books, journals, law repoters, etc; our institute has also subscribed on-line legal debates like Manu patra and the laws.

22) What about campus placement?

We have a Placement Cell which helps in placement of students. On-campus placement activities are also organized at regular intervals. In every faculty Deans keep in regular touch with industries and employers and advise students on placement.
