Tell me more about Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). <p>Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is a public central university. It was originally established by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan as Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College in 1875. The Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College became Aligarh Muslim University in 1920.</p>

Where do I purchase the Application Voucher (AMU Bulletin)? <ul> <li>Download Application Form from official site.</li> <li>Take the Printout of the PDF Generated Application Form on A-4 Size paper (applying ONLINE).</li> </ul> <p><strong>OR</strong></p> <ul> <li>Download the appropriate Application Form from the website meant for the course for which the candidate wishes to apply and get it printed on A-4 size paper. Fill up the Application Form by following the instructions given above in CAPITAL letters using black ball point pen (applying OFFLINE).</li> </ul>

Is the Application Form Fee refundable? <p>No,application form fee is not refundable.</p>

Is it compulsory to do all the steps mentioned for applying online in a single sitting? <p>You should create the login details ie user-id and password in one sitting. The password will be sent to you by email. In the second stage you should login using the login details received in your email and then change your password.<br /> Now in the next step you should re-login using the new password and fill the remaining part of the application in one sitting.</p>

I forgot to note down my Registration number during the Candidate registration process. How can I get the Registration number? <p>Login to your home page. There you will get all details about your application.</p>

When will I get my Admit Card? <p>Admit card will be available for view and print in third week of May (onwards). You will have to log onto the Amu website with your registered User ID. You will be eligible for an Admit Card only upon submission of online application form. You will receive an automated email confirmation upon successful submission from website.</p>

Is there any need to send the documents to the University address? <p>No,there not need to send the documents to the University address.</p>

What are the important steps to be followed while filling the AMU online application form? <p>Before posting the application please ensure that:-</p> <ul> <li>Before filling the application form, Kindly refer the Information Brochure carefully.</li> <li>Fill all the columns carefully, incomplete application will be rejected.</li> <li>Enter the required details and then click on the &lsquo;Submit &amp; Proceed to Printing&lsquo; Button on the bottom of the page.</li> <li>Please check the content before proceeding for print. The print out should be in A4 size only.</li> <li>The duly filled-in application form to be affixed with colour passport size photograph and Signature.</li> <li>ONLINE Payment through Internet Banking / Credit Card / Debit Card.</li> <li>Kindly note down the application no. generated for any future correspondence.</li> <li>Candidates are advised to take photocopy of the application form.</li> </ul>

What should I do if I do not receive the AMU admit card by the time of the examination? <p>In case you do not receive the Admit Card, you should make it a point to report the same immediately to the Admissions Officer. If you do not receive the Admit Card, before the examination date, he / she would have to meet AMU Representative one day before the examination at the centre with a copy of the application form and two attested pass-port size photographs, identical to the one affixed in the application form. All enquiries pertaining to the Admit Card without mentioning application number will not be entertained under any circumstances.</p>

Shall I send the confirmation page to the University? <p>No. You need not send any document to the University unless otherwise specifically mentioned in your application status page.</p>

What are the eligibility criteria for appearing in AMU ( Foreign Languages) ? <p>Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination with at least 55% marks in aggregate.</p>

Do students with a year’s gap face disadvantages? <p>No. All you need are the necessary documents. There is no age limit.</p>

For a Foreign Languages , which subjects need to be included in the best of marks? <p>Any one of the following (Other than the main):-<br /> West Asian Studies / Chinese / French / German / Russian / Spanish.</p>

Will I get sheets/papers for rough work/calculations etc.? <p>Yes, Examination Centre will provide. But no electronic devices are allowed in Examination Hall/Room.</p>

My class 12 result is still awaited. Can I sit for the entrance test? <p>Yes, if your result is awaited you can still apply for this course and sit for the entrance test. However you will have to produce your passing certificate at the time of admission and if you fulfill the prescribed eligibility you can take admission to the course.</p>

For how long is the AMU B.A.(Hons) score valid? <p>The AMU B.A.(Hons) score is valid for just one year.</p>

After the declaration of the cut-off, are students given admission on first come fist serve basis? <p>There is no first come first serve policy. Admission is given only if the students meets the cut-off.&nbsp;</p>

What is Association of Indian Universities (AIU)? <p>Association of Indian Universities is an inter-University Organization of India which assists universities in obtaining recognition for their degrees, diplomas and examinations from other universities, Indian as well as foreign.</p>

Is Aligarh Muslim University(AMU) a member of AIU? <p>Yes, Aligarh Muslim University(AMU) is a permanent member of AIU.</p>

Whether the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is recognized by the NAAC and Government of India ? <p>In 2015, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council rated the school 3.35/A. The US News and World Report, in its education and advice, ranked the university 6th in India, 110th in Asia and 69th in mathematical subjects. The university was ranked 20th by Careers 360 (Magazine).</p>

Should the parents come along with the candidate at the time of counseling? <p>It is not compulsory. But, the presence of candidate is mandatory.</p>

Can parents attend the counseling instead of the candidate? <p>Candidates must attend the counseling.</p>

How do I obtain my degree/certificate? <p>To obtain the degree/certificate one may write to: The Office of the Controller of Examinations,Administrative Block, AMU,Aligarh - 202002 (UP) - INDIA. Samples of the application form for obtaining the degree/certificate is also available on the website.&nbsp;</p>

Does the Aligarh Muslim University provide hostel facility? <p>Yes, Aligarh Muslim University provides separate hostel facility for both Girls and Boys.There are 19 Halls of Residence and one Non-Resident Students Centre (NRSC). (13 Halls of Residence for boys and 04 for Girls).</p>

What about campus placement? <p>We have a Placement Cell which helps in placement of students. On-campus placement activities are also organized at regular intervals. In every faculty Deans keep in regular touch with industries and employers and advise students on placement.</p>
