In case a student fails to book his session for online examination after paying the fees, how will he know about the date and session of the examination ? If a candidate does not make any selection, he/she shall be randomly assigned a slot/ date as per the availability of the same as per page no.11 of information bulletin. Details of session and slot will be given on the admit card.

There is no provision for students wishing to appear for both the exams at different centers i.e Paper -1 be Computer based and Paper -2 being Pen and Paper based ? Since Pape is only in offline mode, a student who is appearing for both the papers, paper 1 being online mode and paper 2 being offline mode will only get such centers that have facility for both the modes of examination. For example: Test centers for this could be PATNA: PEN & PAPER BASED and COMPUTER BASED. Two different roll no and separate admit cards cannot be issued to a candidate to appear at different centres for paper 1 and 2 separately.

What is eligibility for diploma students in JEE-Main ? Yes, to appear in JEE (Advanced) a diploma holder can apply in JEE Main but his rank and score for JEE (Main) will not be declared as diploma holders cannot apply for admission in NITs and CFTIs through JEE (Main) channel.

Will a candidate have a choice to change the mode of examination? Yes, but a candidate can change mode of examination from pen and paper examination to computer based examination only.

What mistakes cannot be corrected during month of January when the corrections will be allowed by the Board ? Change in examination center, mode of examination from computer based to pen and paper based and change in date of computer based examination will not be normally allowed.

While paying the fee, what a candidate can do in case of failed transaction ? If the payment status of online transaction (by credit/debit card) is not communicated by payment gateway in real time then fee payment is not completed. After reconciliation if the amount is found debited, the same will be processed at payment gateway for refund. Candidates are required to pay the fees again either through online transaction or by e- challan and to download the acknowledgement page . Your amount will be refunded back within 7 to 10 days. Use internet explorer 6 or above.

Whether the Hindi Medium paper will come in both the languages? Yes, Hindi medium paper will be bilingual in English and Hindi medium.

What if a candidate has no thumb? He/ she can upload impression of finger or foot thumb also and same should be applied on the attendance sheet during examination.

Why are there no sample papers for offline exams ? The mock test available on website is for all the candidates who have opted either for pen and paper based mode or computer based mode. However it is also for practice purpose and to give candidates look and feel of the Computer Based Examination (CBE). Questions from the previous years are uploaded on JEE (Main) website.

Appendix-2 of information bulletin contains the list of all such centers. Different Roll number or separate admit card will not be issued to any candidates who are willing to appear in both papers. For example: PATNA: Candidates can choose the center if they wish to appear in both paper, Pen & Paper Based and Computer Based.

What are Eligibility norms for Diploma Students in JEE MAIN ? Diploma holders can apply for JEE Main. In order to appear in JEE Advanced, their JEE MAIN scores and rank will not be declared as diploma holders cannot apply for admission in NITs and CFTIs through JEE MAIN channel.

 If a candidate has passed in and has appeared for improvement and is again going for improvement what he will fill in the academic details section. In this case, he/she will fill in as under: Year of Passing 12th / Qualifying Examination Roll Number of either year: (as per candidate’s wish) Percentage of same year as the roll number mentioned: Appearing for Improvement of Class 12th/ Intermediate/ Qualifying Exam: YES During this period i.e. after the declaration of result of qualifying examination, the candidate can update their appeal to consider the total marks of a mark-sheet having greater marks out of the mark-sheet of passing year or improvement year.

Which thumb impression should be uploaded while filling JEE MAIN form ? Boys have to upload left hand thumb whereas girls have to upload right hand thumb however in case of wrong thumb impression is uploaded, the candidates have to apply the same thumb impression on the attendance sheet during exam.

If a candidate forgets to mention his/her name on the Photograph, would the form be rejected ? No the form will not be rejected if it doesn’t have the Name of the candidate and date on which the photograph is taken and no correction is required in such a case.

How will an NRI or a foreign student enters his/her mobile number ? Such candidates can enter the mobile number against the field of landline number.

Will a candidate have a option to amend the mode of examination? Yes, but a candidate can switch mode of examination from pen and paper examination to computer based examination only.

The candidate can change the option of the answer during the exam duration and it is one of the most important feature of computer based examination The candidate also has the option to mark any answer for review at later stage during the examination. There will be a panel on computer screen showing all the question numbers in different colour scheme which will indicate which questions are answered, left unanswered and marked for review Candidate can choose exam date as per his/her convenience. It is used to enhance the confidence of the candidates while using Information technology. With comparison to Pen/Paper mode, Exam Fee upto Rs. 500 will be saved.

Is Computer Based Exam based on Internet ? No

When a candidate can select the date of computer based examination? At the time of submitting the form for JEE (Main) itself.

What will be the time schedule of computer based exam ? The examination will be in two shifts i.e. First shift from 09.30 – 12.30 Hours [IST] Second shift (if required) from 14.00 – 17.00 Hours [IST]

When will a candidate has to report at exam centre? Before 30 minutes from the exam time.

What a candidate must know about computer in order to appear for Computer Based Examination ? The candidate must be aware about how to use computer mouse.

Is there any provision to change the exam date after submitting form ? No

What will be the medium of Computer Based Test? All Examination Centre Cities English and Hindi Medium Examination Centre Cities in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli English, Hindi and Gujarati Examination Centre Cities in Maharashtra English, Hindi, Marathi and Urdu Note: The Candidate can also switch medium as many times as he/she wants during the examination.

Can a candidate get an exam center as per his/her choice? The Candidate can opt for city of his/her choice as per list of computer based exam cities at the time of filling application form only

 Is the Computer Based Test is secure? It is very secure with zero error possibility as human intervention is minimal.

Is there any practice test for Computer Based Examination ? Candidates can practice through the Mock Test, which are available on websites of CBSE/JEE. It will provide the look and feel of the computer based test and aspirants can download them as many time as many times as they want.

What will happen in case there is some problem in computer during the examination ? There will be enough buffer computers available at the examination centers to take care of such problems and the time lost in change of system will be duly compensated as each and every second will be recorded by the server.

When will the results of Computer Based Examination will be declared? The result will be declared along with the Pen and Paper based examination.

Will there be a question booklet like in offline examination? In Computer Based Examination the questions will appear on computer screen along with the answer options. Instruction page will also be displayed before the actual test begins. The time of reading of instructions will not be part of examination duration.

Will a Candidate get the question paper of computer based examination as he/she gets in Pen and Paper based exam ? Yes, the question paper along with the options marked will be mailed to each and every candidate after the exam schedule is over.

In case of problem in computer etc will there be somebody to assist ? Yes, there will be qualified IT professionals.

How will a candidate answer a question in the Computer Based examination ? There will be four options of each question. The candidate has to click one of the options using computer mouse which can be reviewed or re answered any time during the duration of the examination

How will a candidate come to know which are the questions left unanswered ? There will be a panel on computer screen showing all the question numbers in different colour scheme which will indicate which are the questions answered, left unanswered and marked for review.

 Will a candidate be getting some practice test, if yes, than how and when? Yes, the mock test is available on CBSE / JEE websites and can be downloaded for the practice.

 Is computer based examination is for B.E. and B. Tech. only? Yes.

Will a candidate get sheets/papers for rough work/calculations etc? Yes .

 Is there any call center support ? Yes. Candidates appearing in the computer based test can avail call center support through the helpline number(s), which are available on the JEE website.
