What is TANCET? <p>Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) has to be taken by students who want admission into Post graduate programmes ( MCA & ME/M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan) offered by Anna University and colleges affiliated to Anna University as well as to some other aided and unaided universities.</p>
What is the examination for? Who conducts it? <p>TANCET is an examination for M.Tech. in Tamil Nadu. Highly esteemed Anna University is responsible for conduction of this exam.</p>
When will I get my Admit Card? <p>Admit card will be available for view and print in the First week of June (onwards). You will have to log onto the TANCET website with your registered User ID. You will be eligible for an Admit Card only upon submission of online application form. You will receive an automated email confirmation upon successful submission from website .</p>
I have completed the online application. But, I have not taken a print out. How can I get a print out now? <p>You can go to the applying online page again and enter the personal details AND the application number. You will be taken to the printout page again. </p>
What details will be mentioned in the Admit Card? <p>The admit card will contain the following details: Name of the candidate Test date Test City & Centre address User ID / Registration Number PWD/DA status.</p>
Can I apply for more than one programme through a single TANCET exam? <p>Yes, you can apply for more than one programme through a single TANCET exam. However, you need to pay Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamilnad) for each additional programme.</p> <p>(Note: A single demand draft would be enough for one or more programmes).</p>
I do not belong to Tamil nadu. Can I still apply for TANCET ? <p>Yes, candidates belonging to other states can also apply for TANCET . However, the eligibility criteria will be specified by the admitting authority / University.</p>
What is the eligibility criterion? <p>For admission in any university under TANCET for M.E. or M.Tech. Degrees the candidate needs to have passed with 50% or more marks aggregate (for general), 45% or more aggregate (for SC/ST) with:</p> <ul> <li>B.E./B.Tech. in respective fields</li> <li>B.Pharm./B.Sc. Will I get sheets/papers for rough work/calculations etc for TANCET ? <p>Yes, but no electronic devices are allowed in examination hall/room.</p>
Are there any breaks during the test? <p>There are no scheduled breaks in the test. However, test takers can take unscheduled breaks if they want during the test session. An unscheduled break means a break during which the test clock does not stop. If a test taker chooses to take a break, the actual time spent on the break will be deducted from the time allocated to complete the test. No extra time will be given to complete the test. During the break, the test taker must leave the testing room. Upon re-entering the testing room, the test taker must show a valid ID.</p>
What is the examination pattern of TANCET? <p>There are 3 parts to be answered in the question paper. Part 1 and Part 2 are mandatory; Part 3 allows a choice to the candidate to choose from the allotted 13 subjects. </p>

I have a consolidated 55% marks in my B.Tech/ or B.Pharm/ or MBBS/ or BDS degree. Whether I am eligible to apply for (M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./M.Plan.) courses? <p>No. Students should get minimum of 50% marks (consolidated) during their degree program.</p>
What is the “Normalisation of Marks” in TANCET? <p>Part I (Engineering Mathematics) and Part II (Basic Engineering and Sciences) are common to all the candidates. <br /> Part III however is an optional and candidate may choose from 13 possible categories. On evaluation, the mean and standard deviation of original marks may be varying according to the standard of paper after evaluation. So there is a formula for normalisation of these marks:<br /> 40 + (10/S)(R-M) = Normalised marks.</p>
What if my marks/ rank change after re-totaling? <p>If the ranking of candidate is changed due to re-totaling/revaluation of mark, he/she can attend counseling as per the new mark and rank, though the call letter specifies different date (as per original mark).</p>

What is the generalised selection procedure? <ul> <li>The registration for TANCET begins in February. The last date for online and offline spot registration is usually mid February. Following this the candidate receives the Hall Ticket within a week or so. </li> <li>TANCET exam is conducted at March end usually and by last week of April the result is declared. What are the documents I need to organize before counseling? <p>Mark sheets (All appearance) of HSC or Equivalent Examination Mark Sheet of X standard Transfer Certificate Permanent Community Certificate Card, if applicable Nativity Certificate, if applicable Permanent Residence Certificate for Other State Quota Special Reservation form with relevant documents, if applicable. Only attested copies are to be enclosed.</p>

Who should submit Nativity Certificate? <p>Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu having studied VIII, IX, X, XI & XII Std or their equivalent examination in Tamil Nadu need not enclose a Nativity Certificate. However, students having passed any of these classes VIII, IX, X, XI & XII Std or their equivalent examination outside Tamil Nadu should enclose a Nativity Certificate. Other state candidates having studied VIII, IX, X, XI & XII Std in Tamil Nadu need not enclose Nativity Certificate, but are eligible for open competition only. (1890) .</p>
Can I authorize someone else to attend the counselling? <p>Due to unforeseen and unavoidable reasons, if a candidate is unable to attend the counseling on the specified date and time, he/she can authorize his/her parent on his/her behalf and the parent decision will be binding on the candidate.</p>
