About TANCET - Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test - M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./M.Plan.
The Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test - TANCET for M.E./ M.Tech. is an entrance exam conducted every year by Anna University on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Government. The examination is for the students who wants to take admission into post graduation courses of M.E. / M. Tech Programs offered in university departments, regional centers of Anna university, arts & science colleges and self – financing & stand-alone colleges. Some other Institutes, Universities & Self – Financing Colleges may also admit the students on the basis of TANCET.

(i) Candidates who have a valid GATE score with qualifying marks for assistantship in the appropriate discipline of Engineering / Technology
(ii) Candidates who have a valid GATE score with qualifying marks for assistantship in Engineering Science (XE) and Life Science (XL) papers should appear for TANCET also.
About Conducting Body
The Government of Tamilnadu has authorized Anna University for conducting the Tamilnadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) for admission to M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./ M.Plan. Degree Programmers offered in colleges in Tamilnadu. Anna University was established on 4th September 1978 as a unitary type of University. It offers higher education in Engineering, Technology and allied Sciences relevant to the current and projected needs of the society.Besides promoting research and disseminating knowledge gained therefrom, it fosters cooperation between the academic and industrial communities.The University was formed by bringing together and integrating two well-known technical institutions in the city of Madras.
