Exam pattern of University of Hyderabad Entrance Exam-M.F.A.

  • Total Marks- 50
  • Total Questions- 28
  • Duration- 2 hour
  • Marking System-
    • There is negative marking for wrong answers.
    • Each wrong answer shall be given -0.33 marks.
    • Negative marking is only for Part-A.

University of Hyderabad Entrance Exam-M.F.A. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

M.F.A. Painting Printmaking Sculpture

Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts BFA/BVA or BA (Fine)

Essential requirements at the time of application:

i) Applicant must specify the stream (Panting/Print Making/Sculpture) on priority basis on which they wish to apply to the Department of Fine Arts

ii) Applicant must submit 6 photographs (8” x 10”) of his/her recent works in the specific stream in which they are applying, to the Examination Coordinator at the time of the written examination along with their answer sheets (OMR sheets). The photographs of artworks must be attested by a faculty member of the Fine Art college/institute from where the applicant received his/her BFA/BVA/BA (Fine) degree. This is mandatory, as this will be the basis for screening by the admission Committee

iii)If an applicant wishes to apply for more than one stream in the Fine Arts Department, they must submit photographs of recent works done in each stream, with their answer sheet at the time of the written examinations.

M.F.A. Art History & Visual Studies

Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts: BFA, BVA or BA (Fine). Candidates from related disciplines like History, Sociology, Literature, nd Anthropology may also be considered

provided they demonstrate evidence of aptitude in Art History, capacity to read visual images and demonstrate adequate knowledge of contemporary artistic practices. Students must provide evidence of training or practice in visual arts at the time of the oral interview by bringing sketchbooks, artworks or photographs of their original art works.

Age: There is no upper or lower age limit.

Marks: At least Bachelor’s Degree.

How to Prepare for University of Hyderabad Entrance Exam-M.F.A.?

Make a proper Schedule of studies

It is very important that you make a schedule of studies and stick to it and you will have an exact idea of what you are required to study and the time required for it.

Focus on Concept clarity

It is essential that you have a clear idea of the concepts and formulae rather than rote learning of things for the papers. While you might require it for memorizing formulas it is important that for other stuff you make sure you clear your basics and concepts before moving on.

Arm yourself with relevant Notes

It is very important to make small notes or a comprehensive list of formulas on each covered topic and chapter which will come in handy at the time of revision. This will require you to be regular with your work but will surely make things easy at the time of revision.

Go to a mentor and seek guidance

It is not possible for you to know everything in your syllabus, at least not at the time of preparation. Sooner or later you will run into a concept or so which will give you trouble and then it is best you seek guidance from an instructor or a teacher. It is necessary that you clear your doubts at regular intervals and don’t prolong things for long. Even though there may be a complete change in the exam pattern or the expected questions altogether, it is important that you practice on the sample and previous years question papers available for the engineering exam you’d be attempting. You will know the existing pattern and have a fair idea of the type of questions to expect in the paper along with the time constraint.

The paper pattern, duration of the paper and the number of questions to be attempted in the given amount of time is not something you will be able to pick up on the day of the examination.
