The majority of the job opportunities for foreigners come from the booming oil and mineral industries, while the sectors of banking, tourism and hospitality and academia have been offering a number of job opportunities.

The country is in dire need of high-qualified and skilled professionals in a wide range of fields including healthcare. Healthcare, in fact, is the best prospect industry sector in Kazakhstan, which accounted for around 3.9% of the country’s overall GDP in 2019. Approximately USD 6.5 billion was allocated to the sector from the 2019 budget, with medical equipment worth USD 1.3 billion alone.

Major cities of Astana and Almaty, that host the top educational institutions in Kazakhstan, witness the highest number of ex-pats because of the availability of employment opportunities, fairer working conditions similar to that of the Western countries and more.

Many large industrial groups including Citibank and the Royal Bank of Scotland Group have set up their offices in Kazakhstan, thereby increasing the scope of career opportunities for international students.
