History, Affiliations and Rankings
I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (KSMA) commonly known as Kyrgyzstan State Medical Academy was established on 1st September 1939. For the past 80 years, KSMA has been standing tall in the world of medical education. It is the oldest university in Kyrgyzstan. It is recognised by WHO, FAIMER, IMED . The medical degree offered by KSMA is globally acclaimed and is recognised by many international bodies, the KSMA is recognized by the MCI. The students who graduate from KSMA will be allowed to sit for the MCI screening test.
Infrastructure, Campus and Courses
The medical library at KSMS is one of the largest in Kyrgyzstan comprising more than 4,00,000 books and also having digital reading material. It offers a range of facilities to the students, and education is not just restricted to the lecture halls. Students are given the opportunity to take part in many extra-curricular activities such as rotations, seminars, and projects. The campus also has a gym, sports complex and well-equipped hostels. The environment of the academy helps the students thrive and grow not only as a professional student who can excel in her/his job but also a responsible citizen who would ensure that her/his knowledge does great to the lives of those who need it.
Kyrgyzstan State Medical Academy has seven faculties, namely, Faculty of General Medicine, Faculty of Pediatrics, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medical and Preventative Care, Faculty of Nursing and Faculty of Foreign Citizens. All of these faculties administer the courses offered by KSMA.
Accomplishments & Alumni
The highly qualified faculty of Kyrgyzstan State Medical Academy make up a team of 600 members. Out of these 600 faculty members, 7 are the academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic (NAS KR), 55 are the Doctors of Sciences, 4 are the corresponding Members of NAS KR and 215 are the PhD (Candidates of Sciences) at KSMA.
Student Diversity & Visiting Companies
The education in Kyrgyzstan State Medical Academy is conducted in three languages which are Kyrgyz, Russian and English. The MD course offered by KSMA attracts a number of foreign students. KSMA has a selection committee that takes care of the selection procedure of students enrolling to Kyrgyzstan State Medical Academy. Currently, Kyrgyzstan State Medical Academy has more than 6000 students from the country as well as around the world. Students from 19 foreign countries are pursuing medical degrees from KSMA.
