After being ranked 9th best engineering institution across India last month by the Union ministry of human resource development (MHRD), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar has got another reason to rejoice with a better placement season for BTech students than last year. So far, 71 students have been placed with an average package of over Rs 12 lakh per annum, an increase of 10% over the last season.

The fourth placement season 2015-16 has been highly successful. Graduates of the Institutes have been offered jobs in reputed companies such as Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bharat Petroleum, Larsen & Toubro, Meritnation, Kayako, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, eBay, Arista Networks, Flipkart, Snapdeal, Zomato, ITC InfoTech, and Avanti etc. Tata Consultancy Services, HCL, Cognizant, Nagarro, R Systems, SCA Technologies,
Moreover, a number of our graduates are going for higher studies in reputed institutes such as The State University of New York, University of Utah, Purdue University, Northwestern University, Wayne State University, University of Southern California, University of Michigan and the IIMs. The statistics are a testament to the skills of the students that have been enhanced by the quality curriculum.
Head of training and placement cell at IIT Ropar Ravi Mohan Prasad said, “The placements of BTech students passing out in 2016 are very encouraging. The response from industry has been overwhelming and we are glad to see 80% of our students placed already. More than 90% of the computer science engineering students and close to 58% of the mechanical engineering have been offered positions in core-technical companies.”
The first-time recruiters this year include Saavn, Yodlee, TinyOwl, Grofers, Practo, CouponDunia, Steelwedge, Axtria, Click Labs, RockON, BRDS, Anglo Eastern Ship Management, Indus Valley Partners, Coal India Limited, and SyberPlace.
“We have been ranked among the top 10 engineering Institutes in the country and being a new IIT, this is a big achievement for us. This is a benchmark we have set for ourselves and we hope to continue our effort in field of engineering research and aim to be among the top five research and teaching institutes in the coming few years, ” said IIT Ropar director S K Das.
The institute was ranked 9th among various research and teaching institutes in the country in the India Rankings 2016 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), MHRD at a function in New Delhi .

IIT Ropar saw a successful placement season with a total of 71 students placed so far. An average package of over 12 lakhs per annum was offered to students this year, an increase of 10 per cent compared to the last season.
