Agra University administration has decided to stop extending affiliation to new colleges from the upcoming academic year. The move aims to improve the quality of education in the state and to streamline the exam and result declaration process.

According to the reports, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University (Agra University) has made a decision to stop extending affiliation to new colleges for the upcoming academic year (2019-20).

The main aim of the university administration to stop extending the affiliation to new colleges is to improve the quality of education, teaching-learning standards. This will also ensure that the results are declared on time and exams are also conducted in a time bound manner. Apart from this, the varsity has come up with a committee to sort out pending cases related to the affiliation. The cases have been pending for a long time and it is important to sort them out to clear the backlog work, as informed by the university official.

Meanwhile, the administration has also decided to restrict self-finance colleges and institutes from taking admission as per the number of teachers on duty and other regulations of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

There are various colleges affiliated to Agra University which mainly includes the entire region of Agra. Some of the major regions included in the same are Mathura, Aligarh, Firozabad, Manipuri, Kasganj, and Etah districts. Apart from B.Ed colleges, there are many Ayurveda and Dental courses in Kanpur which are affiliated to the varsity.
