The Government of Assam is rolling out a plan to make all the colleges across the state offer courses in Science stream so that no student wishing to pursue a career in Science is deprived of an opportunity. Similarly, 100 colleges will offer postgraduate courses in a phased manner from the next academic session.
Mr. Himanta Biswa Sharma – Education Minister of Assam pointed that even though 15,800 candidates had scored star marks in Class X board exams for the academic session 2016-17, not all the students were able to take up courses in Science stream due to lack of colleges offering Science courses. The scope for taking up courses in Science stream is limited to the students in Assam while most of them are going to other states for pursuing courses in Science stream, he added.
